Lark Hill Trials
The fastest heat winner at the recent Lark Hill trials was the promising Tribu stallion Wire Detonator. Spelled after finishing unplaced in the 2005 Railway Stakes. 18 starts for 8 wins. Resumes in the Bunbury Stakes this Tuesday and could surprise 1stUp.

Ventured West
Blinkers come off Stramos R4 today making his WA debut. The former NSW 3YO colt is competing against older horses but did win a Lark Hill trial earlier this month in good style and has done well first-up in the past.

Scenic Shot
When punters look at the stats from the J.C.Roberts Stakes from Ascot last Sat. they'll see only 2.25 len covered the first 7 runners, indicating that a bunched finish involved some luck/lack of. When the replay appears on the WA website next couple of days have a good long look at Scenic Shot. That 1len margin is hiddeous, arrogant. The WATC Derby is the target so I looked at it's breeding. By Scenic (sired Derby winners Blevic and Universal Prince) from Sweepshot who's daddy was Dr.Grace, Derby,BMW winner etc etc. He therefore should extend his brilliance over the classic distance.
|
Scenic Shot
Thought Scenic Shot could have won by a good 3 lens had the pontiff been serious at the end. Perhaps not pushed out due to that injury scare a week or so back.

ADELAIDE CUP GOSS
The goss around locally last couple of weeks is that neither west aussie (Black Tom / Master Minx) had enough time off to fully recover from their Perth Cup runs and will no be at their best for today's Cup :( Hope the goss is wrong!
|
ADELAIDE CUP - WEST AUSSIES
That's weird? for some reason my last post looked to be registered but the post is not showing??!
Anyway will re-do: The word around the traps locally past couple of weeks is that Black Tom and Master Minx never fully recovered from their Perth Cup campaigns during their shortish spells and have been racing below their best. Hope proven wrong but if any truth you'd think they would be risks today. |
And of course up pops the original post after re-doing

ADELAIDE CUP
(15) Tubular Bells is my top pick. Undefeated and looks a stayer of real potential.
(5) Break The Barrier has won over 2600M at Randwick and is a last winner of the Gosford Cup. (1) Black Tom would have been my top pick but am now concerned not at best. Include (21) Danebar now he gets a start. Has some solid staying form. (4) Tigirana and (3) Master Minx my roughies. |
The fav Tubular Bells even harder to beat now the track is heavy!
|
Adelaide Cup
I see there's been a track upgrade to dead - won't hurt the sandgropers chances any;)
Sticking with BLACK TOM this is the race he's been set for. TUBULAR BELLS very promising but will he run out a strong 3200? INTRIGUING looks nicely weighted. Can't leave out MASTER MINX 20/1 currently. others with some hope BREAK THE BARRIER, CRYING STORM and DANEBAR. |

Thanks for the post woody. Read it earlier today and excluded both Black Tom and Master Minx from my main batch of selections (they were already borderline based on their ordinary form of late). End result - managed the trifecta built around Tubular Bells running 1st or 2nd. Exalted Time who was another borderline selection (recent SA form good but more importantly stuck with the lovely Clare Lindop) made it into the main batch as a result of excluding BT and MM. Cheers :) |

Bunbury Tue...
In race 1 ex Victorian Molfetta will make his WA debut. Racing without blinkers today, drawn well, apprentice claim, good first-up record and 2 good recent trials. Race 2 another ex Victorian Egotism makes her WA debut. Two unplaced runs country Vic. Two trials in WA the latest OK. Suggest a watch on betting for this one. Race 4 Caulfield Jim is having his 2nd start after a short stint in the east. Disappointed first-up this course 1 Mar but will be improved by that run and will also appreciate the extra 200M. |
