Great day out robbo WELL DONE!

westman 26th April 2006 04:22 PM

Belmont Trials, Monday 24/4/2006

Most impressive heat winner was Dee Picked ridden by the pontiff. The winner of 2 of 5 starts the 3YO colt easily won his heat in best of day.

Foxaround also put in a good performance to win her trial. She has a great strike rate - Starts: 18 1st: 5 2nd: 2 3rd: 4 4th: 3 - and was not pushed out to run the next best of the day.

Most interesting win of the day was that of Garbo's Storm. Ridden by the pontiff he just pipped handy galloper Top Drive. The former victorian is yet to race in WA and most of his previous runs have been over middle distance.

GERALDTON RACE 4

Was impressed with The Black Pig's Ascot debut run when only beaten 1 3/4 lens behind Yarraman and Price Regal after a tardy getaway. Back to a maiden today and although likely will start short has to be the one to beat on his first-up effort.

Fortunate Smile another with a good chance. Very unlucky last start.

Nice debut run by To The Throne at Geraldton a couple of weeks back.

Mail around for the unraced Cloontakilla who was a solid trial winner at Geraldton end of Mar.

If they leave All Bar One alone in front they won’t catch him. St Basil & Picaday look the main dangers. Messiaen and the west aussie Denmarket and would have to be at their very best to figure.

Lark Hill Trials, Monday 1/5/2006

Fastest heat winner was the unraced chestnut gelding Diamond Highway. Diamond Highway clocked 55 secs for the 900m defeating the unraced filly Leona by 1.5lens. They streeted the rest.

Impressive Stats the winner of 10 of 22 starts was given a very easy time in his heat defeating handy gallopers Designer Label and Cubic Circonia.

Small field R2 tomorrow both greys in with a chance. Ears Loppy racing out of class but has shown some promise & sure to have admirers. Ellenbrook also racing out of class but done OK C5s at Kal recently. Nice run former vic Ruanaidh last start & should be cherry ripe. Topweight Driven To Victory always a chance this type of race. Tricky little affair!

Gwalia Guy not without a chance in the R6 prefers more distance but is still fresh. Air Lord resuming goes ok fresh. Sand George 3rd start back following 2 runs city, performs well Kal. Discretely, Western Zed, Golden Desire & Miss Cherub have all been thereabout. Wingate City nice run last start at Ascot. Another tricky race.

Interesting runner High Court! Over from Qld, likes further but I see he has a perfect first-up record - 2 starts / 2 wins.

Same race we have Stonecutter from South Australia making his WA debut. Just the 3 starts, maiden winner then 2 starts C2. Well fancied all 3 starts.

I see True Steel hasn't started his jumps career as yet & will line up in tomorrow's Warrnambool Cup! Wouldn't be surprised to see him run a big race!!

Looks well treated at the weights, ridden back in the field last start coming home strongly. Wonder if they'll try and lead with him tomorrow?

5 Foxaround 2 CL5 53 Brad Parnham J P Taylor
6 Is Amazing 5 OPN 53 Shaun Mc Gruddy F R Kersley

Impressive Stats has struck a very small but very handy field for his return to racing.

Impressive Stats has impressive stats (Starts: 22 1st: 10) but so do the rest.

Great Nation (Starts: 15 1st: 9 ) defeated Yaya Lad a few weeks back that horse has since won.

River Mist (Starts: 34 1st: 8), Gobiton (Starts: 21 1st: 6) and Foxaround (Starts: 18 1st: 5) are all resuming and capable of putting big runs first-up.

Is Amazing (Starts: 17 1st: 7) defeated Miss Castaway a few weeks back, that horse went on to win at her next start.

All in all a very interesting race!

WildWildWest 6th May 2006 12:56 AM

Belmont Sat

Race 1 Rich Ken, Clarecastle & Translate should make up the tri

Race 2 Siesta Bay, Attadale, Stormblitz & Stringmaster should fight out the places

Race 3 Armidale Avenue, Siesta Park & Encipher

Race 4 Impressive Stats, Great Nation, River Mist & Is Amazing in a red-hot field

Race 5 Kia Ora Miss, Lady Noire & Mimicry

Race 6 Let Go Thommo, Air Race & Dee Picked

Race 7 Cape North should be too classy for these. Next best Tip The Till, Eutri, Keys Ace & King Bluey

Race 8 Antico Mio, Royal Drive, Gimme The News, Profair & Thermo King in an open race

anchor 6th May 2006 02:18 AM

A Back, Lay and Watch

Lay - Race 2 is a super little race. I'm potting Attadale. Will be in the market having won its last 3 and has Harvey aboard again but today's race is stronger than what he's been up against, which have been trot and canters.

Watch - Race 4 is a very interesting contest. Impressive Stats with in-form jockey may lead but is he at last year's level? Great Nation rarely misses a place, River Mist likes the course&distance, Gobiton to receive a good run from bar3, Foxaround can't be easily discarded, Is Amazing was a great win 2ndup though back to 1000m the query.

Back - Race 5 Kia Ora Miss is up from 3YO class to open Fillies and Mares but I think she's actually well in against this lot with 54.5kg. Not a lot of speed around so I assume Harvey will send her forward. The odds could be the problem.
