Redemption!

anchor 6th May 2006 10:33 PM

Westman, no redemption, your first comment was spot on - ouch. Lost plenty on Attadale which on my numbers reached a new high again. Then Kia Ora Miss was too short so stood it out in the Tri and lost that. Backed Gran Paradiso in the last to put the nail in for day. Well done Jessica Hill riding a double.
That track looked like a billiard table, next metro meeting Wednesday.

Penultimate at Northam tomorrow - most appropriate that the pontiff continues his association with the Trevor Andrews trained Water Into Wine :)

westi 7th May 2006 01:28 AM

NORTHAM early races

R1 many first starters with good trial form but sticking to the raced duo Danzadan and Mondaine. Both have done ok in city starts

R2 La Flamenca backed for a stack (and beaten) only start back in Sep 05 Harvey retains the ride. Third Umpire and Lip Service knocking on the door.

R3 hard race suggest boxed exotics – Passing Star; Find The Time; Maximum Impression; Man Of Note; Blow Out; Dark Alliance

R4 main 2 Colonel Ralph and Silent Wishes

R5 another tough race boxed exotics again – Ladyoftheplace; Ostra Lanto; Allgood; Captain Woody; Lady Kiseki

ELLI RETIRES

As reported in the press Ellicorsam has pulled-up sore after her unplaced run in the Goodwood at Morphettville yesterday and has run her last race.

She is now on the market as a brood-mare and will attract plenty of attention from major studs.

Elli had 20 starts for 10 wins and 2 placings and $774, 202 in prizemoney.

Ascot Trials, Monday 8/5/2006 - Track: Fast

Fastest trial winner was Third Option. The Flying Spur gelding who is yet to race in WA won his maiden at Kembla Grange in late 2004 and raced with moderate success (without winning) in Victoria mid 2005.

Most impressive trial winner was Electic who defeated a smart field under a strong hold. Electic has an impressive record of 15 starts for seven wins, two seconds and a third with prizemoney exceeding $150,000. Electic best win to-date was the RS Crawford Stakes at Ascot last November, when he defeated O'Flirty, Miss Andretti and Arctic Park.

Belmont Wednesday...

Former Victorian galloper COMACCHIO in race 5 didn’t set the world alight debut run in WA although beaten only 4.75lens Ascot 1400. No money that day and the extra distance of today’s race a big plus for the mare whose pet distance appears to be around the 1700 mark.

Boyracer race 7 got going late at debut run WA when beaten 4.25lens Ascot 1400. No real money for the former Victorian gelding that day but like Comacchio will appreciate the extra distance of today’s race and 2nd-up record not bad.

Former Victorian gelding Garbo’s Storm is set to make his WA debut today. Previous first-up record not all that flash but will be driven by Paul Harvey, races with blinkers first time and did win a Belmont trial over 1000 a few weeks back when ridden by the pontiff.

Belmont Sat (races 1-4)

R1 - Bobby Jean deserves to break through; Nice first-up win Real Mak Northam

R2 - Zorobo could easily get the hat-trick; Jemarnica good run last start; Scopaciri always a chance this type of race; looking forward to the day Harvey climbs aboard no. 9 (in this race) :D

R3 - At her best Royal Drive would win; Thermo King yet to win at distance could break through; Charming Story back in form; Ramiro likes Belmont (and still another couple of other chances not mentioned!)

R4 - Mr Sandgroper will appreciate claim; Sabre Chief likes course; Stringmaster gets in on the min

Miss Andretti

The Fighting Tigress to set to have her first start for her new trainer Lee Freedman in the Straight Six at Flemington this Saturday.

Miss Andretti, part-owned and formerly trained by David Mueller, joined the stables of Lee Freedman after her 11th in the Newmarket Handicap on March 11.

Lark Hill, Monday 15/5/2006 - Track: Good

Clearly the fastest heat winner yesterday was the lightly raced 3YO Friar's Touch. Easily beat handy older horses Rooftop Grosve and Stir Pak.

Two starts only last campaign for two wins, Friar's Touch resumed earlier this month but was a well beaten 2nd fav. Yesterday's run would suggest a much improved effort is just around the corner.

Belmont Wed

Race 1
Blinkers on for Misguiding which hopefully will improve her racing manners enough to win this

Race 2
Bit of pace in this race so going for one that should be suited and be a bit of value Silent Wishes had excuses last start Northam

Race 3
Kim Joy no luck last start races well fresh. Rumoured drawn nicely & looks well in on limit

Race 4
Platinum got further back than planned last start & still got close. Forget Scenic Heart went around last start unable to get clear at any stage in the straight. Jacks High the one that both will have to run down

Race 5
Top 3 should fight this out. Siesta Park down in class. Water Into Wine & Shatner both impressive winners Northam 7 May

Race 6
Tough race depending on how it pans out. Should be plenty of speed which will suit fancies Air Race & Etcetera Etcetera, and not so fancied Hero Of The Dawn & Lady Edwinstowe. If either Foxaround or Stone Man get it easy early then very hard to run down. Interesting runner down from the NT Cormeoghan where he’s been lumping big weights around with success

Race 7
Bet Ahead always a chance this type of race with apprentice claim. Accept The Rose unlucky not to beat Kia Ora Miss last start. Old Georgie Girl going great guns Geraldton and is capable of bringing that form to the big smoke. Merry Cossack should have just about won last start & a repeat effort would go close in this. Winning Scene is capable & should be value had no luck last start

Race 8
Major Key capable the short distance while still fresh. Designer Show glu shoes off (good sign). Mr Telini in all kinds of strife last start but still won, up in class but been placed in city previously. Swoopers Best Buys, Forest Frolic, China City & Crystal Grey all capable if pace is on. Nullagine good chance if pace is off
