Kalgoorlie Sunday...

Back to a C1 for former South Aussie galloper STONECUTTER in race 7. First-up not sighted C2 this track but fitter for that run. Former Victorian galloper PETITE SURPRISE same race, won at WA debut at Leinster. Opposition stronger today but did win her last start easily.

Great win by the sandgroper Miss Andretti yesterday. Had a good win on her EW also took her with the field quinella which paid well thanks to a bit of an outsider getting 2nd :D

Much improved effort indeed westman! Couldn't beat the fav but beat the rest easily! Back in the winners circle before too long ;)

The other runs of the meet were no doubt put in by the lightly raced 5YO Let Go Thommo & 4YO Electic - both blazed out extremely smart final sectionals!!

The win even more meritorious considering the Fighting Tigress is better on top of the ground!!

Understand now spelling and returning in the spring.

Danzadash (first-up) was actually responsible for the 2nd fastest sectional time even though he got beat 4.25 lengths he was running home very strongly from last on the turn. Worth following.

Belmont Saturday...

Former Victorian Comacchio in the last has now had 2 starts in the west and should be settled-in and ready to show a bit of her true ability. Astute stable and underrated jockey.

(2) KNIGHT ACADEMY the obvious danger.

G'day DCFC. Agree all 3 are top chances in the next but did like Just A Kiseki's last run and near best would give the others some curry.

Barney Boy and Spun Glass are a couple of real roughies for the place.

watsonnek 27th May 2006 02:42 PM

Just pretend I wasn't here!! LOL

Just A Kiseki LAST!!! Do hope for the connections that she pulled up OK!

The fav Revealing Light looks hard to beat

Sand George and Turnaround look OK Ew

Super Sentele can go OK fresh

The Den won well last start after getting beat a long way Revealing Light previously

westman 28th May 2006 10:03 PM

At most recent Belmont trial both Hartleys Dream and Zed Power looked well when running 1/2 in the fastest heat of the day. Hartleys Dream whose most recent win was the listed Farnley Stakes was ridden by the pontiff whilst Zed Power who disappointed last campaign was ridden by Steven Parnham. Both horses have performed fresh in the past.

anchor 28th May 2006 10:36 PM

Interesting to see how Zed Power comes up, westman. A year ago blew away a field over the Belmont 1200 then last preparation at Ascot didn't get warm. Only had the 17 starts for a 5yo.

Sandgroper 29th May 2006 09:10 AM

Zed Power

Something definitely amiss with Zed Power last prep. Showed his usual early dash to lead them up first-up but compounded although fought on pretty well in the Crawford behind Electic. Then raced near the tail next 2 starts after slow getaways. Being an entire perhaps his mind was on other things  Definitely better than that & has raced well this time of year previously. Goes OK all types of track. I’d be expecting early success if he’s going to show his true colours this time around.

SunsetCoast 29th May 2006 12:09 PM

I notice that handy stayer Mafeking ran 3rd in the trial. Like Zed Power had a shocker last campaign but being this far forward after a 5 month break could be a good sign.

And in case nobody noticed the smart Avenido Madero finished 5th same trial! Obviously they're taking her along quietly at this point in time.

Geez 29th May 2006 09:36 PM

Desperate Measures?

Geez, looks like Adam Durrant is getting a bit desperate with his ‘unlucky’ galloper Etcetera Etcetera.

Considered a good thing beaten last 2 by many judges Etcetera Etcetera on Wed will race with the addition of blinkers (one-eye blinker – left) and a lugging bit!!

Will be very interesting to see what Adam does next if those gear changes don't reap a positive outcome ;)

watsonnek 30th May 2006 05:45 PM

TRUE STEEL

True Steel is finally set to make his jumps debut at Flemington this Saturday. Nominated for both the 3200 and 3400 events trainer Robbie Laing has indicated a likely preference for the shorter race. True Steel has been schooling well although Laing was slightly disappointed with his last trial over the fences.
