Getting in early with (7) Golly Gee. She would have won last start at Belmont but for commencing slowly, racing 3-wide until near the 800m & then laying outwards under pressure over the final bit! Blinkers off today in an attempt to have the filly settle. If she settles she will win.

But did get 2nd & 3rd at very nice odds. Thought (12) Sucre Coeur a great EW chance. Paid $16.40 in NSW!! :D

I think you'll find they've kept Golly Gee (scr today) for Saturday, westineast ;)

Well things have got worse! He is now fighting for his life at a Ballarat vet clinic after an apparent infection has caused his hind leg to well and truly swell.

Reported on high doses of anti biotics at the moment and is in a critical condition.

Anyone know the latest?

True Steel update

Reports are that True Steel is responding well to anti-biotics and is on the road to recovery after contracting a mystery infection and there's been about 50% improvement with the swelling in his hind leg, which is great news.

True Steel must be well and truly on the mend! The report I read recently was suggesting he would be aimed at some late season jumps races!!

Not an overly large crowd on course to witness Let Go Thommo eazy win in the G3 Belmont Sprint. Luvly ride by Linc Roberston who was still grinning ear-to-ear as he left the course after the meet!

No doubt a lot of punters grinning 'ear-2-ear' after the race as well watsonnek!

Well done Watsonnek, all I got yesterday at Belmont was a guts "ache" although Royal Cobra in the last eased the pain slightly!

La Mer 18th June 2006 01:34 PM

I heard that there is a steward's inquiry into one of the races yesterday @ Belmont, but not sure which race. Does anyone know? From what I heard the jockey is being challenged about his/her ride & giving their mount every possible chance.

It was cape North & Is Amazing that killed my day so hope it's not one of them????

..not either..Our Grey Halo and Keyton Grace..

umrum 19th June 2006 03:00 PM

after backing impaler over east headed to the track full of confidence. took the 5/2 for cape north, then the $9 electic and then $3.40 woodala. what started as a good day ended up as a very very sick one. if you backed a winner your going well. Thommo was most impressive but the race would have been interesting if b parnham had gone to the outside on electic instead of being blocked for a run from the 400m - 200m. Not sure electic would have beaten thommo but woul;d not have been much in it.

Some good value multies with Torrid Affair running 2nd WWW!

Was at Belmont Saturday, surprisingly small crowd. Great to see that old Dashing Dan hasn't lost his touch. Great front running ride on Jaunty Lad. Had a bit of a nibble EW Torrid Affair myself. Kept safe by the bookies but very generous win odds (tote). If only her nose was a bit bigger!!

Trials for Belmont, Monday 19/6/2006 - Track: Good

Money Exchange the winner of 5 of 14 starts did the job easily in winning the last trial at Belmont on Monday.

Money Exchange hasn’t started since well beaten in the Cyril Flower Stakes in Feb this year.

Money Exchange's most notable win - the Placid Ark Stakes (3YO) beating the VERY handy Is Amazing.

I notice that the 2nd horse in Money Exchange' heat (Beerbohm Tree) is a former eastern stater yet to race in WA. All his wins have been over a bit of ground but might go well fresh given his trial performance.

Top effort last week Torrid Affair (R2 tomorrow) but boy did she have a hard run! Wouldn't be rushing out tomorrow and taking shorts about her!
