At Belmont yesterday Buster’s Icon and Pity Me quinella’d their race and Just A Halo and Tribal Warrior both placed.

At Northam today our starters consist of Starlight Grey (2nd), Tribal Lover (3rd), Stone Man (4th), Telluride, Sunday Dreams and Tribal Silver (5th), Stormy Pleasure, Morag and Metal Mayhem (7th), Blue Tribu (8th).

The perils of owning a racehorse
 

Never had a share in a racehorse but have a mate who has shared (normally 1/6) ownership of 5 horses in the past 5 years.

So I hear all about the ups & downs of owning & racing a racehorse (in my mates case mostly downs).

Thought I heard it all in terms of the downside until I read recently about the horse (Cleaning Up) that crashed through the outer fence at Belmont the other day, tumbling into the water. The horse swam out to a sandbank, stood there for a while then started the swim back to shore, drowning before reaching it :(

Any thought of ownership that might have been building-up inside has now been totally quashed!

At Northam yesterday Metal Mayhem and Starlight Grey (30/1) were both placed.

A friend of a friend dabbled in racehorse ownership some time back. Switched over to the harness world more recently & has enjoyed it so much (financially & socially) he reckons he'll never go back to the thoroughbreds.

At Belmont Sat Leading Man was placed (20/1). At Geraldton yesterday Halo Song saluted and Pale Dancer a runner-up.

Connections of WA's Egomaniac are almost certain to pay the $82.5K late entry fee for the Victoria Derby if Egomaniac performs well in Saturday's Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes over 2000m at Caulfield. Egomaniac arrived at his Caulfield stable last Thursday and has reportedly settled well.

Cheers watsonnek, wasn't aware Egomaniac had gone east. Maybe part-owner Janelle Harvey is keeping things on a low profile after the Plastered saga.

...and wasn't that a great win by Miss Andretti on Saturday :)
