Possible good news for WA racegoers.

Damien Oliver is weighing up his options in Perth before deciding if he will ride at Sandown's Eclipse Stakes race meeting later this month after having 5 meetings shaved off his 20-meeting Melbourne Cup suspension.

"He is putting out a few feelers to see if it is worth going over there or staying here," his manager has reported.

Marasco, trained by Fred Kersley, could be in Oliver's sights especially as he had a successful association with the Kersley-trained champion Northerly, winning 3 Melbourne Group I races on him 2001, including the Cox Plate.

Melbourne get's the bum's rush, he is staying in Perth and then heading to Hong Kong. I don't know how they do it these jockeys,it's one thing resisting roasts and sangers but all that chinese tucker would drive me crazy!

Westi, is it Mr Diagnosis turn tomorrow? hope so BUT Re-Enforcing was sure running on well last start ey? by the way the DR. bit must have been a Frueidian slip, have had a few medical procedures lately!!

PS. WHY does my eye keep going back to "Wild Target" maybe just the substancial place bet that I dropped on it last week or something else???

Mr Diagnosis certainly has a better draw but just wondering how he pulled up after last week & if he might just need another run under his belt. Both Re-Enforcing & Scenic Shot will be pelting home. Polish Reign will go around at any old odds, wouldn't be surprised if the Duck got him into a place.

Ideally suited the weight scale, nice barrier & blinkers off, w i n k e r s on. 15/2 at the mo. I backed Dr John last week & I'll stick today. Won't be taking the shorts Belle Bizarre. I'll have a few bucks Who Did It for the place as well.

Raw Instinct 18th November 2006 05:42 PM

I don't mind Lord Lonsdale in the next race looks decent odds for his form from a pretty good draw will be disappointed if it doesn't go close.

In the Guineas I liked Pantenny a little could run a race at decent odds.

In the Lee Steere I liked Hartley's Dream 1st up with the fish on board usually goes very well fresh just needs some luck to get up here.

Those who took the short odds Belle Bizarre (like me) had their heart in their mouth as Hartleys Dream look to nab her on the line  PHEW!!

I actually had the last $150 in my account on Hartleys Dream on saturday jeez I though he had got there massive run especially at Ascot if that race had of been at Belmont I reckon he runs over the top of them was stupid odds really hence the size of the bet I had I couldn't believe the odds.

There's a few comments already this thread re Marasco, ra sun.

Don't think there were any genuine plans to take east & Fred has been playing down any comparison with Northerly.

Currently fav for the Railway & 4th in line (betting) for the Fruit N Veg. Under the odds in both on performances so far imo & likely to be even shorter if he goes ok in the R. J. Peters on Sat.
