Had a nice win on the grey :) Understand the Winter Championship is next on the agenda.

westi 22nd May 2007 08:19 AM

The ease of the win surprised me a bit. Doesn't mind soft tracks (as confirmed Sat) so the winter championship would suit.

WildWildWest 22nd May 2007 09:13 PM

The size of the div [pleasantly] surprised me, even if it was a few points shorter on the WA Tab!

Silly, silly, boy! Fancy doing the wrong thing when your career is already under a cloud and you're being monitored

It's a shame! Has more than average ability, as a jockey!

Great news for WA racing

The Railway Stakes, worth $750,000 last year, will be one of 3 prestigious Group 1 races which will comprise the inaugural running of the Australian Mile Triple Challenge — the $1m Emirates Stakes at Flemington on November 10, the Railway Stakes at Ascot on November 24 and the $700,000 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield on March 1, 2008.

This year’s Railway Stakes will carry a record prize money of $1 million. There will be $4 million in stakes and bonuses, including a $250,000 bonus for any horse which is placed in all 3 races

The conditions of the Railway will be changed from a handicap with no top weight limit to a quality handicap with a maximum of 60kg, the same conditions as the Emirates Stakes.

The minimum for the Railway will remain at 52kg, but 3YOs will be able to carry 50kg, a clause that was removed from the conditions of the race several years ago.

Super news indeed!

Disqualified for 10 years

As a result of finding electrical devices at a South Hedland (WA) training complex on Saturday, 19 May 2007, local trackwork Rider Mr C. Bellette pleaded guilty to the following three offences under ARR.175(hh):

..being in possession of a hand-held electrical apparatus
..being in possession of a Heriot Agvet cattle prodder
..using an electrical apparatus on a horse in a training gallop at Broome in 2005

RWWA Stewards have disqualified Mr Bellette for a total of 10 years!

Stewards were satisfied that Mr Bellette had acted alone in committing these offences.

according to report I read Bellette claims he has used electrical devices for 40 years

diogenes 25th May 2007 09:21 AM

Whatever happened to North Western justice?
I imagined a part of the judgement to involve a rodeo ring of girl horse lovers with said apparati in hand and Mr Bellette wearing little more than a pair of leather chaps, application of electrical devices to soft tissue resembling a bald fruit bat.
If you live around Headland way you need to make your own entertainment.
Mr Bellette would benefit too, at the end of his punishment he would be fully trained to teach country and western singers how to yodell. Everybody wins!
(When oh when will they make me king?)

Rode 225 winners in Tasmania and 40 in Victoria before increasing weight forced him out of race riding in the 1970s....I wonder if..how many...hmmm!!

watsonnek 25th May 2007 08:28 PM

Former WA race mare Empire Dancer will make her Victorian debut tomorrow, Moonee Valley R8. Has won first-up but has never won at a distance under 1300. You never know!

I'll have a little on the boxed multi, steve. Good luck with yours.

Missed out on the multi but finished in front thanks to Fearless Waters saluting.

Spotted a couple of very unlucky runs on Sat. Nova Sofala (ran 4th) in R7 – unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the straight. And Who Did It (ran 3rd) in R8 – held up for clear running from on straightening until the 250m.

Agree both should have finished closer watsonnek.

Loml, On The Warpath, Mr Lovalover & Beat The Storm all impressive winners.
Disappointing runs by favs Lachino & Lord Baumay. Both well beaten, both looked to have every chance.

Looks like we could have a feast of eastern states horses for the next Railway! David Hayes, Lee Freedman, Gai Waterhouse, Peter Moody, Danny O’Brien, Robert Smerdon & Gerald Ryan have all indicated they will set horses for the series.

promising gelding, onpacer who does fight on, certainly showed improvement last campaign but will need to improve further to be any chance in the railway or similar, imo

Good to see the pontiff back from injury. Brushed away a few cobwebs today with a winner & a runner-up from 3 rides.

Will gradually reassert himself again (Pike’s been getting a lot of his rides). Expecting Pike to go east for a stint once this season closes.

You do a brilliant job of providing here Westman, on another thread you ducked out before seeing a request for info from me on where to get such access to stats that you posted on wet track winners and lists of breeding results on certain track condition winners and so on so I thought to myself "this is the place where westman will see the request"....so please share the websites that provide us poor punters that info.Whew, that is one heck of a sentence.
Thanks from all in need mate
