Yep, have some feedback steve but have to duck off quickly now. I'll get back to you a bit later.

Sandgroper Seafarer make his eastern states debut for David Hayes today at Sandown. Good first-up record & a winner in both slow & good. Should do ok.

Chiquita 8th August 2007 10:25 AM

thanks for that watsonnek. would have missed it completely. wasn't giving melbourne a glance.

westi 9th August 2007 02:10 PM

Apache Cat Could Be Heading West

Trainer Greg Eurell has confirmed that the Railway Stakes is definitely on Apache Cats program.

Chiquita 9th August 2007 05:23 PM

Interesting! A clash with Marasco on home turf could be on the cards.

ok run but he needs to improve race manners.
When hit with the whip, he went backwards.
Jock then resorted to hands and heels and came back to run 4th.

suds 10th August 2007 03:01 PM

Congrats sandgropers. WA’s Miss Andretti has been rated the world’s best sprint mare.

watsonnek 11th August 2007 12:07 PM

Well she is, isn't she :)

Yeah, the Fighting Tigress received a rating of 120 putting her in the same class as the males, El Segundo, Takeover Target and Pompeii Ruler (all 120).

Chiquita 15th August 2007 11:36 AM

Fred Kersley dropped a bombshell yesterday when he revealed that Marasco was no certainty to run in the Cox Plate. Marasco could be switched to the Australian Mile Challenge.

The Challenge offers a $1 million bonus to the connections of the horse who can win the $1 million Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on November 10, $1 million Carlton Draught Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on November 24 and $700,000 Futurity Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield on March 1.

Initial reaction, very surprised. But when you think about it, the type of horse to pull it off!

What's going on with Perth racing. 3 horse race yesterday (R1) 9 races Sat most small fields!

westwinners 23rd August 2007 10:27 PM

The 9 race card is a result of the last race being canned on Wednesday, due to 'dangerous conditions'.

Yes the small fields are a little concerning. There seems to be plenty of horses resuming from winter spells, yet the numbers are down??

I expect when we finally get back to ascot there will be some monster fields again and we will be complaining about how hard it is to find the winner!

There may also be another culprit; RBH. Perhaps the new handicapping policy has pushed a few more runners out to the provincials and country where they can compete against others with similar ratings??? rather than carry the minimum in town and give away sometimes 20 ratings points...

Great to see Jason Brown tasting success over east (Caulfield) today on the promising sandgroper Scenic Blast. That horse now set for the Caulfield Guineas.

And Scenic Blast owners Elio Galante and Bob Peters each managed a two state double - Elio Galante with Capuchin & Bob Peters with Special Reserve (both winners at Belmont)

I suspect Scenic Blast has trained on ENORMOUSLY over the winter, he went 57.49 first up under a hold the WHOLE way, and i dont mean under a hold going past the post i mean literally under a hold pretty much the entire straight!!!

westman 5th September 2007 05:53 PM
