Mr Quaddie 27th February 2008 06:59 PM

What does PS mean on the TAB betting tickets? What is it used for?

Why doesn't the TAB web site provide information on how to fill in the betting tickets?

El Gordo 29th February 2008 01:00 PM

Royal Lott

...must be a good chance to take out his 2nd Bunbury Stakes based on his outstanding performance in the Pinjarra Classic on Wed...

schonegg 29th February 2008 11:30 PM

el gordo, in R5, clash between Guyno - Nairobi - My Empire. Got a preference? Think Nairobi is up against it.
Some shorties going around today, will be great to see how Jestatune returns.

watsonnek 10th March 2008 04:42 PM

Are my eyes deceiving me? Do I see Danny Blue listed to race in the Bunbury Stakes tomorrow!!

schonegg 11th March 2008 03:58 AM

I checked the Stewards report from his last race(15th April 2006!) and no mention of injury, must've done it after.

Fixed odds market has only three under double figures:

UNIVERSAL RULER $3.5
ROYAL LOTT $6
FIM MARU $6.5

Neiltown 11th March 2008 12:18 PM

A reasonable run from the grey given the long layoff & the competition on the day!

Mr Quaddie 12th March 2008 08:21 PM

What is everyones tips for the whole Bunbury meeting?

Sky Marshall looks good in the Cup.

westi 13th March 2008 12:59 PM

BUNBURY CUP

Lobbed into a perfect spot then before the turn just dropped out. Stewards Report says possibly in season.

schonegg 17th March 2008 01:39 AM

PERTH sensation Lords Ransom will not race in Melbourne until the spring carnival after owner Bob Peters decided yesterday against running in Saturday's Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield.

The Adam Durrant-trained four-year-old, who won the $130,000 Bunbury Cup (2200m) on Thursday, shapes as a future star of racing with six wins from nine starts.

"He's not mature yet and I've just been keeping him happy and racing him lightly," Durrant said.

There is considerable interest from Melbourne trainers wanting to add Lords Ransom, a potential Cups-winning horse, to their stables.

Peters has a history of sending horses to leading trainers David Hayes and Lee Freedman.

Durrant has aspirations of winning the spring riches himself, but concedes that he could lose the horse to a big Melbourne stable.

"I'd imagine Hayes and Freedman are very keen to get the horse," Durrant said.

"I train a lot of horses for Mr Peters. I'd be very disappointed to lose the horse, but I'd cop it on the chin.

"But I can assure you the horse would not be suited to being trained at Flemington. He needs his beach work."

David Hayes' racing manager Mark Pilkington admitted the stable would love to race the horse.

Mr Quaddie 17th March 2008 02:37 PM

Lord Ransom wont be going to Melbourne it seems.

We should have a Western Australian tipping comp.

Extract from the official stewards report "....When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider advised that the filly had travelled comfortably in running with cover but was under pressure at the 500m and failed to run on in the straight. Trainer Mr F. Kersley advised that he was disappointed with the filly’s performance and that he will monitor its recovery on return to the stables and report any findings to the Stewards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, however, there were some signs that the filly is in season."

Sire Rory's Jester, most of his female progeny tend to be early bloomers, Jestatune's best may be in the past, time will tell.

MARASCO

I note has been nominated for the Easter Stakes (1500m) this Saturday. Top weight 60kgs (53kgs limit).

suds 19th March 2008 12:41 PM

I seriously doubt he can give the likes of Universal Ruler 7kgs & a beating first-up over 1500!

Chiquita 19th March 2008 04:29 PM

I reckon UR will start fav!
Bookies took a chance with Marasco last time first-up & got their fingers burnt ;)

watsonnek 20th March 2008 02:56 PM

Yep, Universal Ruler is the fav

schonegg 22nd March 2008 10:28 PM

A fairly soft win to Universal Ruler. This youngster is building a good record and maybe heading to a race in Singapore? Marasco can't be sacked yet, was wide and ran on well under the 60kg.

watsonnek 23rd March 2008 09:39 AM

Yeah, Universal Ruler has been nominated for the Krisflyer International Sprint (1200m) held in Singapore Sunday, 18 May 2008. Prizemoney about US$670,000.

watsonnek 23rd March 2008 10:02 AM

From memory around 70 initial noms from all around the world. Only 14 get a start!

watsonnek 23rd March 2008 10:09 AM

I’ll see if I can source the list of aussie nominations...

Betfair has won a High Court challenge against Western Australian laws that prohibit residents placing bets using the online exchange.

In a unanimous judgment the High Court today ruled the laws were invalid and WA residents could place a bet with Betfair's exchange in Hobart by telephone or on the internet.

The High Court also ruled that Betfair could publish or make available WA race fields by telephone or on the internet between Tasmania and another state.

WildWildWest 28th March 2008 07:17 AM

great result for punters in general! just hope betfair gives back to the local racing, pacing & chasing industries similar to what the tab does now. from what i’ve read this may not happen
