WA Oaks
Aftermath of that shocking fall in the Oaks:
Following the race Jockeys D. Staeck (FULL MOON) and L. Camilleri (LADY JEUMONT) were examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and declared fit to ride. FULL MOON (D. Staeck) – Fell near the 150m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned with a moderate laceration to the inside of the off fore knee. LADY JEUMONT (L. Camilleri) – Severely checked near the 150m and blundered when contacting a fallen runner and dislodged its rider. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a minor abrasion to the inside of the off fore cannon. Jockey J. Whiting (DELTA GEE) was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and declared unfit to fulfil his remaining riding engagement in Race 8 due to a thumb injury. DELTA GEE (J. Whiting) – Fell near the 150m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned with generalised soreness to both shoulders and to be slightly lame in the near fore. Jockey W. Pike (JEWELLED) was transported to Royal Perth Hospital for observation. JEWELLED (W. Pike) – Restrained passing the 200m and then fell at the 150m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned bleeding from the right nostril and with a haematoma to the off fore shoulder. |
That fall looked awful
Great to see all escaped with nil / minor injury |
Sounds like Pike might have been worst affected, but not too bad.
Has concussion from reports, doesn’t remember much from the fall. The inquiries will be interesting! |
Jason Brown 6-week suspension and $2000 fine careless riding for allowing Oaks winner Cassandara Shadow to shift inwards leaving the 200m mark.
Stewards deemed the continual shifting in and contact with Brava Fortune were the catalyst behind the 3-horse fall involving Delta Gee, Full Moon and Jewelled. Paul Harvey 23-day suspension and $1000 fine careless riding for allowing Admiring to shift in at the 200m, causing William Pike to check on board Jewelled just moments before the mare blundered in the horrific fall. |
Any excuses Dante’s Volonte?
|
Pulled up lame in the off fore.
|
A couple of excellent races today at Ascot.
The 1400m Sires Produce for 2yos is a big field, I think eachway Don'trocktheboat won't miss the frame. The 2400m WATC Derby has got an interesting runner, Markus Maximus. It finished a close 2nd to Big Col at Caulfield and that winner is in the AJC Derby earlier today so we may get a guide. But Phenomenons will be all the rage. |
Dante’s Volonte

And reported now gone for a spell. |

Yeah schonegg, turned out to be a very interesting runner. Seems lots of follow-up options for Moody. VRC St Leger Stakes at Flemington Anzac Day, the South Australian Derby next month or Queensland Derby in June. |
heard may be spelled & brought back later this year..ultimate aim..the big one..
|
Gutsy win on Saturday, but seriously doubt will be up to Melbourne Cup standard. I’d be shooting for the SA / Qld Derby double.
|
Latest on Marasco, has arrived safely in Melbourne and will be floated to Sydney to be aimed at the G1 All Aged Stakes at Rosehill on April 25.
|
the way the tracks are playing in sydney hope they're bringing his flippers
|
That's great news Hat. I'd like to see Marasco in the Stradbroke, big field with speed on and him sitting back waiting to go. Be interesting to see who the rider is.
|
Yeah schonegg, onto Brissie if all goes well in Sydney. Maybe Fred will go with a local hoop. Will be interesting to see.
|
All the best to young Jarrad Noske who begins a riding stint with the Peter Moody stable today. Jaz hasn't ridden too many winners lately, let's hope that changes quickly.

beadman would do me..if back from suspension.. |

Yeah jake, wet tracks could be a worry, although Scenic progeny have a better winning strike rate in the wet than they do on the dry. |
Quote:
just read that kersley had hoped damien oliver would ride marasco but oliver has elected to ride the chris waller-trained danleigh in the all-aged.. |

With Ollie now out of the picture, just could happen. Darren returns from suspension on Anzac Day. |
Scenic Shot is on his way to Brisbane to have another shot at the Hollindale Cup (Gold Coast), which he won last year. Trainer Dan Morton was very pleased with his fast finishing 3rd in Saturday's Listed Grandstand Cup, behind Megatic.
|
scenic shot
hollindale then doomben cup/brisbane cup?? im thinking the horse is destined to run well up here...although its a hard horse to catch.
|
Blake Shinn to ride Marasco.

not starting st. leger..runner-up berlioz is..anyone know latest plan for markus maximus? |
Quote:
9/1 fixed odds. Track condition most important. The dryer the better. Doubt Fred will start him if too wet. |
rate marasco around 13/1..duporth nice show at odds imo..
|
Drifting! Now 11/1. Slow (7). Let's hope the track gets firmer.
|
|
Quote:
Well jake, could be 13/1 or better by start time. Still easing. |
Quote:
You'll have to wait for another day tevez17, non starter. Hard race the last! |
Quote:
Looked to have every chance today. Will Fred still head further north? |
Quote:
Who said Ollie's not a good judge! :) |
Agree Hat, every chance for Marasco. I'd still take him up north.
|
Do you think he handled the wet track ok yesterday schonegg? Unlikely much firmer in Brissie.

From what I read Fred was very disappointed with Marasco’s performance, so the trip north might not happen. Strange as it might sound, I thought Marasco raced liked he needed the run. I’d be pushing-on with the Brissie campaign.

wa form looking ok! i'm guessing queensland derby for markus maximus? |
Quote:
Looking forward to the Hollindale, odds shorter than I expected, go SS & Ollie! |

If you're correct jake we'll have an interesting re-match. Berlioz is skipping the South Australian Derby for the Queensland Derby. |
