Also worked well at Flemington yesterday, prior to his flight out of Melbourne to the U.K.

“Yes I am going to try my luck in Hong Kong. It is the best racing in the world and I am going to try and match it against them.” Pike told perthracing.com.au

“The HKJC contacted me and it is an opportunity too good to resist.”

Pike currently sits atop of the rider’s premiership here in Perth with 73 winners, more then 34 clear of his nearest rival Troy Turner.

Yep, certainly is an opportunity too good to resist. Warmed up with a treble Belmont Sat.

Has this horse improved heaps or what!?

...and he hasn't stopped improving!!

schonegg 3rd June 2009 03:37 AM

And Bart did a great job with the sandgroper Rogan Josh :)

Daniel Morton has had great success with his Scenics. Off to UK with Scenic Blast, Scenic Shot is in devastating form in Queensland and he's got another very good one,
Scenic Bullet, hopefully return to the track soon.

MyHatMyCoat 3rd June 2009 02:30 PM

Bit surprised to see Scenic Shot in the final field Brissie Cup. Thought 60kgs would put Morton off.

Scenic Bullet has been off the scene for a while. Not sure if retired. Hey schonegg, what do you know?

jake 10th June 2009 04:09 PM

has broadway belle gone to the spelling paddock?

MyHatMyCoat 12th June 2009 06:34 PM

Don't know jake, perhaps schonegg can advise.

schonegg 12th June 2009 10:10 PM

No idea Hat, seeing her in the noms was a shock though, aiming a bit high so soon.

Great racing tomorrow with the Belmont Sprint and the Belmont Guineas.

In the Guineas, Mega Steel is one of those promising types you'd love to own. Races on the speed, and fast, and had a change of gears last time. Breeding suggests 1600m no problem. Up against Grand Nirvana at set weights makes it a real challenge though.

In the Sprint a big field in a wide open market will make it genuinely run unlike the Roma Cup a couple of weeks ago. I think Idyllic Prince is ready to strike, but barrier 18 will make it settle wide and back. Universal Ruler was once the top sprinter. First up over 1400m is a surprise but I guess connections know best!

jake 13th June 2009 12:11 AM

hard to see grand nirvana getting beat under the weight scale..agree schonegg..mega steel looks a nice type in the making..lead rope done nothing wrong this prep..hawkeye mort loves belmont..& escape velocity should put in another honest performance..

MyHatMyCoat 13th June 2009 12:31 PM

Belmont Guineas

No-bet race for me. Grand Nirvana should win but very short & prev form over 1600/1800M not all that hot. Mega Steel the only other one in betting at the moment.

MyHatMyCoat 13th June 2009 01:52 PM

Kool ride the pontiff on Moonlight Drive!

MyHatMyCoat 13th June 2009 03:31 PM

Sandgroper Daka's Gem about to race at Sandown. Good luck to connections.

MyHatMyCoat 13th June 2009 03:44 PM

Daka's Gem

Well, that run was disappointing!

jake 13th June 2009 04:10 PM

belmont r6..main..midtime & like a vain & interange..at odds..amici & original lovalover & eucaballo..

Great ride the pontiff. Did win a couple of trials before today. Still, a fine training effort.

MyHatMyCoat 16th June 2009 04:43 AM

Ascot trainer Darren McAuliffe has confirmed Universal Ruler has been retired (to stud) after his stunning triumph in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint on Sat.
20 plus mares are in the queue for him. Lucky fellow! :)
