..a few to follow from yesterday’s belmont meeting..

field of action..no luck in running..finished off very well..

conakey..went wide on the turn but still ran on very well..

colour correct..would have won imo..if it didn’t lay in over the last 100m..

Rogan Josh 7th August 2009 10:56 AM

Great to see former sandgroper Let Go Thommo back in form. Were you on guys?

And another goes around in the last tomorrow at Flemmo. Cats Fun. New trainer. Was with Freedman. Some chance fresh.

Any thoughts the sprint tomorrow? Escadaire. Vain Raider. Oroya Gold. Danes Mystery. Classy Nugget resuming. Looks a tough race.

schonegg 7th August 2009 09:53 PM

I reckon if Vain Raider gets the easy lead then the backmarkers have a tough job. So Danabeela looks to get the right run, and 2nd up last prep over 1200m was only pipped by Hay List. One of these should win. If there'd be any pressure on the leaders then Oroya Gold has to be in the mix.

Back to race 5, this is the sort of race Scenic Bullet has been busting to race in. No doubt was disappointing last week, didn't pick up, but Morton is backing him up quickly over a course and distance that has shown his brilliant best. No excuses tomorrow.

jake 8th August 2009 04:05 PM

hi schonegg..scenic bullet pretty short but agree should run well..

jake 8th August 2009 04:17 PM

looked to have every chance..schonegg..was a grinding run..not beaten all that far..

schonegg 8th August 2009 09:36 PM

Really had every chance Jake. A bit wide on turn but peaked about 100m out. It's sacked!

What's worth noting from the days racing is that 6 winners led throughout, another leader finished 2nd beaten a short head, and the other leader raced off the fence which isn't its go, but was still only beaten in a blanket finish. There could be a case for bias along the rails. The rail was out 6m.

Hi RJ. Made a tidy profit on Let Go Thommo when he raced in Perth (from memory won his last 5 in a row) so I always have a little on him when he runs over east. Been a while between drinks, so I really did enjoy the spoils on this occasion.

Beat The Storm & Oroya Gold both motoring home late. Nice runs. Strong win Escadaire, perhaps the Hannans is on his card again. Beaten fav last year.

Yeah schonegg, the racing yesterday was certainly leader dominated. The run of Scenic Bullet was rather disappointing, but I wouldn’t write him off completely, yet. Was taken with the runs of Kid Choisir who did it with ease & Kasabian who overcame a wide draw and was still able to respond to the challengers over the last bit.

Deserving imo, and another few good wins still to come.

schonegg 13th August 2009 07:25 PM

Seems incredulous that he can't win the WA horse of the year because one of the criterias is that a win must be in the home state in that racing season. Won 2 Group1s in Melbourne then a Group1 in the UK but ineligible for home state honours Rules are rules I guess and Morton probably isn't fussed.

Looks like Oroya Gold is buttering-up tomorrow.

That is surprising schonegg. Those in power should review the criteria imo.

..is idyllic prince heading for the hannans? ..would be a great chance looking at the way it won today..easily beating both beat the storm & escadaire..

schonegg 22nd August 2009 10:04 PM

I'd guess not Jake, but would be a big chance. Attacked the line today with something left in the tank.
Also, what a speed display from Dante's Banquet. Hadn't raced for 35 days and with 57.5kg over the 2000m went close to the track record, with the field well spread out.

MyHatMyCoat 25th August 2009 02:41 PM

Sandgroper Vainekko makes her Victorian debut in the last at Echuca today. Formerly trained by Peter Giadresco, now trained by David Brideoake at Mornington. Comes off a freshen-up, anywhere near her best should be in the mix.

MyHatMyCoat 25th August 2009 03:03 PM

Well that previous post was a waste of hot air. LOL Vainekko, last

r7..cervino..

MyHatMyCoat 27th August 2009 09:30 PM

One to follow from Belmont yesterday, Power Princess, very impressive at her race debut, won easily & should improve further with that run under her belt.

schonegg 28th August 2009 09:39 PM

Some good racing tomorrow at Belmont and hopefully the track not worst than dead.

In race 5 Hay List has won 5/5 but the trainer has decided to leap a couple of classes and over a new distance. I'll be watching only, but it could easily be up to the challenge.

One to back is in R6 Tudor Lad. There are a few last start winners engaged so hopefully we get a price, as it should be winning.

jake 28th August 2009 10:47 PM

hi schonegg..agree..both hay list & tudor lad look strong chances..& adding..colour correct in the last..

schonegg 29th August 2009 12:36 AM

yeh Colour Correct been screaming for this distance....what chance all 3 get rolled :)
