Thanks CP.

Luckyboy, it is done like that because from experience it seems to works best that way. Don Scott used a table quite similar. Providing you are using reliable accurate ratings, the higher weighting given to the top rated horses seems to produces better results.

This method is really for use on weight ratings, so I'm not totally sure how it would go with Unitab ratings. It should work pretty well on Zipform ratings though.

Sportz,

What's that saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Seems to apply here as well...

I echo Chrome Prince's sentiments. This was a very generous offer by you.

Champion!

Sportz,

Not wanting to be too bold, but I was wondering if you had developed a spreadsheet application for converting ratings to points? Specifically, I am looking at a function wherein if a rating is entered it will look up a table and allocate the appropriate points.

Hope you may be able to help.

Cheers,
Luckyboy

Luckyboy,

One way is to look up my links page at

http://au.geocities.com/findlg/win

and at the bottom left hand corner is a link called "Ozrace Points to Price". That's a web based price maker once you have your ratings sorted out.

Luckyboy,

I'm sorry, no I don't have something like that. Using my method, the scores are not based on the actual rating figure itself but how that rating compares to the ratings of the other horses in the race. Anyway, I personally think my method is fairly simple and convenient to use as it is!

Sportz,

Thanks anyway. It is a relatively simple system and not too time consuming. I was just trying to make it go faster...

Fryingpan,

Thanks for the tip, but I am looking for something a little different. Specifically, taking a weight rating converting it to a score and then calculating the market. See Sportznut's example in this post.

Cheers,
Luckyboy

I have a spreadsheet set up which calculates odds from a weight advantage (Don Scotts tables) kedireka2@hotmail.com if you would like a copy

Luckyboy, I guess it would be possible to make up a spreadsheet using my method, but I'd just never really thought about doing it. I think I'll stick to my old fashioned notebook and calculator.
