Yeah bad luck Sir Hallowell, schonegg, was looking a strong chance for the WA Guineas. Plans for Sydney (autumn) and possibly Brisbane (winter) are now in the pipeline. Meanwhile, David Harrison's other smart one, Waratah’s Secret, is said to be thriving & should resume racing shortly.

A few to follow from Belmont Saturday.

Baskerville Street, nice win, should continue to improve.

Black George, winner 5 from 7 this campaign, still further scope for improvement.

Vain Strike & Chance In Time, both got to the line strongly behind Top Gun & should go on with it.

Comments from Morton after todays trackwork:

- jogged 1 lap, cantered 1 lap (turf course)
(exercised from 6:52 to 7:09 on turf, ridden by Daniel Morton)
"After some hard work yesterday, his condition is very good. He just went slow this morning and he felt very nice. He's eating well.
I was always expecting it to be a fast track here, but a little bit of this rain will help us.
I don't know much about your horses here, but he's in good order so I expect him to run very well. The draw (No. 7) is great, since it'll be easy for him to move to his ideal mid-field position.
I intend to just walk him around the stables and take him to the paddock tomorrow morning."

schonegg 2nd October 2009 07:22 PM

Belmont Saturday

We've got the return of an exciting sprinter in Dante's Volonte in the Birthday Stakes. In the run it may lead or take the trail behind Vain Raider. If either are off their game or have a duel then an Oroya Gold/Tarzi would capitalize. But it's a watch only race for me.

For a bet I think we should see a better Bridgestone in R4. Running over a trip that he won well last prep. and fitter, should go close. Zidansky looks a threat. There are a couple of other hopes so the price might be ok for the toppie.

Rogan Josh 3rd October 2009 12:28 AM

Hi schonegg.
Have you given up on London?

schonegg 3rd October 2009 01:14 AM

Hey Rogan, not in that field tomorrow. Trainer seems upbeat about its chances though so may have really come on from its first up run.

Very nice win, London. I got on, schonegg. Cheers.

Gee, very short on fixed odds. Have to muck around with the multis.

vain raider missed the kick by 2L - his sectionals would have been gi normus - goes into BB

so..who do we multi with..guys..?

schonegg 3rd October 2009 10:36 PM

Hat, no, didn't back London and lost on race, but well done and hopefully Rogan Josh backed it as well.
From the race, probably the kindest remark we can make of Dante's Volonte is 'will be better for the run'..and excellent win to London. Confirms Hay List as a topliner.

Jake, 2 winners 2 placings friom your tips, tops!

From other races, they're talking possible quick interstate trip to Melbourne for Bridgestone, with the VRC Derby the target.

For tomorrow, taking $1.7 fixed (UniTab) is madness, when we know little about the field. Much rather not have a bet and sit, relax and watch, and hope it wins :) Go the Blast!

Rogan Josh 4th October 2009 08:57 AM

In the end didn't have a bet in the race. Bummer dude!
My ew bet for the Sprinters Stakes - the 3-year-old filly Grand Prix Angel. Has some strong form & looks nicely weighted.

What a great clash looming. Last year Dark Target ran that incredible 31.93 sectional when winning by 6 lengths over tomorrow's course/distance. Nearly a year off and no trial, we have to trust Christine Stelmach that it's going well. In the run Hay List will probably kick up and lead from Dark Target.

No-bet race for me. Very surprised to see Dark Target back on track. Thought he retired (bowed tendon). All the best to connections. Hope he pulls-up ok.

MyHatMyCoat 10th October 2009 03:33 PM

Yeah, I'll be just watching as well. Will be a great tussle if Dark Target is anywhere near his best.

schonegg 12th October 2009 05:02 PM

Pike rode a winner at last

Been tough for him, and he's ridden horses with chances(less than $10), but he broke through with a bolter yesterday at Sha Tin. His first in 39 rides.

For free info the Hong Kong website is great, lots of info and stats. Can see all his rides on video too.

Has 4 rides at Happy Valley on Wednesday though they don't look like winning chances, but here's hoping.

Well, another win to Hay List, with a bit up his sleeve. Good effort by Dark Target all the same - look forward to a re-match.
