Think you're right Party. A website tracking media tipsters has him with strike rate of 20% and POT -22% (since 6 July and not tipping every race). |

Yeh Hat, Durrant has had a magic carnival. Young bloke too, great future. Ma Chienne was enormous in defeat. |

Eastern states on the agenda for either or both? |

Problem is Schonegg (is that shone GG, or schon egg??) that they can make the figuressay anything eg: the 20% S/R could be overall i.e. 4 selections per race or it could be only the top sel. I personally take the top 2. Also my figures go back to 2003, WA meetings only, and as I said hes been a bit lean recently. Also the LOT is probably at single tote, whereas BEST TOTE/SP would probably improve that as much as 10%, and bet fair probably close to break even. Personally I improve the figures again by always betting @ Top Fluc when any selection is quoted @ $4 or less (pre post WA TAB-FORM) PS can you post that link to the tracking mob please? |

http://thegreattipoff.com/ Best current tipster is Shane Anderson from Sport927, of the worst are Matt Stewart(ranked 51), Alan Thomas(ranked 58). |

They probably should try again with Lords Ransom. Some of the Provincial Cups or a Listed in town could be targets next spring in Melbourne. Ma Chienne really blossomed, and was up since August. Next prep could see her best, still fairly lightly raced for a 5 year old. Be very interesting what path they choose for her. Best distance could be around 2000m. |

Small fields but a good card at Ascot Saturday
R2) Xaardavid is backable at 3.3 and the claim helps. Bizet(probable leader) a danger.
R3) Mekong Miss to lead from King Kool Kat. MM has been well backed but 1.9 looking too skinny now. Spirited One freshened up and in weakest field its been in for a while would win this at best. Brava Fortune back to shorter distance and drawn well is worth throwing in multiples. R4) Glen Erin Lad at 5.25 is ok and should be thereabouts, so should Follow the Road. The favorite Almighty Runner might not lead like last time but is very promising so can't knock it. R5) Lay Stratazoa at 6.5, can't have it. The hot favorite Ma Ma Machine was outstanding last week, and the only niggling concern is all wins have been over 1000m. R6) An ordinary stayers race, AirForce at 4.2 could be the one. Probably won't lead this time(Esroh should) and will try to replicate its win over the c/d 2 starts ago. R7) It seems Golden Heart will race closer than last time(settled last and whooshed home) so from barrier 8 will need just a dash of luck to get cover. Should win. Delta Bay for multiples. |

Following race 1, a section of the track near the 400m was deemed unsuitable for any further racing and the meeting was subsequently abandoned. |

Pike coming back!
From South China Morning Post....
William Pike yesterday landed his biggest win in Hong Kong - the Group Three Bauhinia Sprint Trophy (1,000m) on Craig's Dragon for trainer John Moore, but will not seek to extend his licence at the end of the month and will return home to Perth to prepare for the arrival of his first child. Pike will exchange finding his feet in one of the most competitive and lucrative riding environments, for the pitter-patter of tiny feet back home - and he is confident he is making the right decision. "It is making it a bit harder to leave now that I'm finally riding some winners, but at the same time I am leaving Hong Kong in good stead and I can't see why I won't be able to come back at some stage in the future," Pike said. "The best thing for me to do personally at the moment is to head home to Perth, and I might even be able to peg back a few of the boys at home and ride some winners there." That is the understatement of the year so far, with Pike being a big fish in a small pond at home in the Western Australian capital where he has won the past two jockey premierships - last season's by an impressive 34 winners. Pike had struggled to ride many winners until early December last year, but has chalked up 11 for the season and claimed his first Group win at Sha Tin. ![]() |
Cheers schonegg, Pike did ok overall, didn't he.
Hope all goes well for Pike & his partner, fellow hoop Jessica Valas, with the impending arrival of the couples first child. |
second that and it will be good to have Pike-ee back again, many a good win in past few years on him!
|
where is paul harvey?..due back from his annual xmas / new year break..
|
Hi jake. Paul Harvey was due back a week or so ago but was injured in a track accident. Might still be another 5-6 weeks before he can ride again, scans on his left leg revealed a fractured tibula and partial tear to a medial ligament.

Interesting stat re Ma Ma Machine, schonegg. Has started at odds of 2/1 or less, on 9 occasions (including last Sat). Winning just once! |

Tough going Ascot
Hot weather but no hot tips
R1 Time to Climb began like a bullet then led throughout at its only start. Forget the average trial since. Throw in Ihtsatune for multiples. R4 Coppaclip Inn might be ridden back this time, not sure. 2 starts ago was a good effort over the c/d. Worth an eachway gamble at 7.5 R8 Milken Whiskey may need this run, but if we can get around 6.5 then worth a flutter. |

..thanks for the feedback..hat.. ..looking forward to the resumption of regular clashes..pike v harvey.. |
a few to follow from yesterday's ascot meeting..
..r3..for your eyes only..strong win 1st-up after getting into trouble during the race.. ..r4..meltdown..ran on well..just beaten..raced wide from the 500m.. ..r6..general confusion (2nd)..emteevee (3rd)..both finished off nicely..no luck early.. |
Quote:
Another to follow is Emteevee(same race as General Confusion). Had a wide tough trip but still managed 3rd behind a tearaway leader/winner. Was 2nd up so more to come hopefully. |
Heard a whisper that El Presidente was back in training? Almost 2 years since he last raced!
|
Rogan Josh, just read a piece from Perth Racing that he was going to trial today at Bunbury but pulled up short at trackwork yesterday and 'slightly torn' a tendon again. Think it's over now.
Trainer Bruce Watkins, what bad luck, his other topliner Danny Beau has a similar problem. |
tips/lays Ascot
R2 Lay The Entourage at 5.5, may not lead or could work a little too much.
R3 Best backed has been Barometric(6.5 -> 4.8). I'll Lay McScar at 4.8, meets Significant much better than last time but bar 10 a problem. R5 Golden Heart should sit off them and sprint too well. R7 is a good 1000m sprint. Darntime is fast early and should lead. Nollamara could settle right behind it. Early money has been Icy Maiden (6.5 -> 5.5), tip 7-2 R8 Several unknowns and with a big field there will be traffic problems. Verscene won well over the c/d 2 starts ago and should've finished closer last time. But there are other good chances. |
Quote:
Geez that's bad news schonegg. They very rarely recover from a tendon injury. That’s racing unfortunately! |
One to follow
Galaxy Queen is ready to win over longer trip next time third run from spell.
|

Yeah, not much going right for Bruce at the moment. He also trains Peggie's Choice, a full sister to Miss Andretti. Peggie's Choice ran 3rd only start a few weeks back but now has to have an op to have bone chips removed. Hopefully all will be ok with that filly. |

ascot..sat..30/1..r3..
warm fav..almohad..back in distance..could be a bit of a risk.. rocky range..recent winner c&d.. glen erin lad..great strike rate.. dominicano..should do well fresh.. at odds..shipyard..& all class.. |
Good luck Jake. A few tricky races isn't there? Rail back to 0m is first time since 1st January, so inside pad could be best going, we'll see :)
R4 - A good bet in General Confusion. Should settle about midfield, cosy run, need a split then sprint too strong. Throw in Delta Bay for multiples. Leader could be Bike Aaromba but might have to work a little to get there. R5 - Magic Millions 3YO Trophy - It depends if you think For Your Eyes Only can win over 1400m. It won't lead but should box seat. R6 - Magic Millions 2YO Classic - Best backed early has been the favorite Time to Climb, but I think it's a Lay. Should lead a long way but the last few metres in this will test. |

..running today..meltdown..just raced..close 2nd..general confusion..r4..for your eyes only..r5.. |

agree schonegg..general confusion the one to beat..main danger imo..goldy junior..a couple at odds..lexicon gold..& euclassy thing.. |

think it might lead schonegg..but probably a better chance if it gets a sit.. dangers in order..fleming son..xaaravid..i'm here to win..& amplifier.. |

r6..open as..will it be a feature double to jordan / turner?..time to climb (fav)..good barrier..absolute pleasure..drawn wide but stong win only start..kiddy cat..another strong winner only start..& still a few more.. |
Not a great day on the punt but one to follow is Fromm from the first race. Won at 1400m last preparation and looks ready to salute again.

Good thing beaten imo schonegg. Slow start & early interference cost the filly the race. |
Bit of a Spurs (English soccer) fan & was most impressed with the debut win of Tottenham Hots a couple of weeks back.
Has to be a great chance today even from the wide gate. |
