Shocking price RJ

So I ended up standing her out in a Trifecta/First4 and sadly missed both ! See how we go this Saturday:)

jake 5th February 2010 11:15 AM

a few to follow from wednesday’s ascot meeting..

..r2..pocketknockoutking..having 2nd race start..slow away..no luck in running..warming up last bit to run 4th..
..r5..cheri cheval..raced wide throughout..but still beat a handy field..
..r6..puerto galera..ran on well for narrow win..after being slow into stride & being held up early in the straight..
..r7..new faith..ran on well for 2nd..after being blocked for some distance in the straight..

schonegg 6th February 2010 01:17 AM

Ascot Saturday - Backs + Lays

R3... Back - Impatient Times - Has had a break after super win last start over c/d, might get back again(but raced on pace last year)
R3... Save - New Image - Good trial, best yet to come
R3... Lay - Dawinner - Short at 6.0 and New Image should beat it home
- -
R4... Back - Taharka - Wide draw again but settle leader/outside lead, improving, kicks strongly when challenged
R4... Back - Given Vision - Been disappointing, but Blinkers are On and drops in class
R4... Lay - Amelia's Reason - Changed trainer, races well fresh and Trial was ok, but will get back and needs race to collapse
- -
R5... Back - Nollamara - Box seat and obvious chance
R5... Lay - Hide the Loot - Continues to run fast sectionals, but at 4.4 is short and a Placing looks best again
- -
R6... Standout in multiples - Heart Ache - Already well backed, 1600m is no problem, another Durrant runner
- -
R7... Lay - Golden Heart - Current Fixed 2.8 is too short in a race of queries, from bar 8 probably go forward

jake 6th February 2010 03:16 PM

ascot r2..main trio..vainito..crosselle..& converted..next best..heavenly divine..dynamic dane..pennies o'reilly & ocean cracker..

Good collect Jake, about $220 :)
Honours to Peter Knuckey with his treble, knocking out somebody who put 50k on Alan Kennedy in the Jockey Challenge!
The official track reading was Good3 but the track was certainly off, a Dead4 closer to the mark.

schonegg 6th February 2010 11:34 PM

Missed a winner, 4 to Knuckey!

It's in a hot race tomorrow as well but I'll chuck it in the multiples.

schonegg 12th February 2010 10:08 PM

Ascot Saturday - forecast hot day and hot Pike

R3 - winner should be either 1/2/3, maybe Rock My Pago is ready to win now. Lay Changing Lanes at 6.0

R4 - Every man and his dog tipping Sir Hallowell. No Trial and 58kg and Carbery will need to find openings in the straight but might be the best 3 year old in WA. His run before spell, had pace on to suit, but his finish was outstanding eased right down. Morant blew the start last time and with Pike on is quinella chance. Lay Fromm at 6.0

R5 - Darntime has been best backed and doesn't have to lead to win. For multiples Classofherown will get a sweet run. Lay Jean at 5.0

..that was a better result schonegg..

schonegg 13th February 2010 10:14 PM

Ordinary day Jake, also had Doyoudare beaten in 3-way finish :( Hope you finished on top.
One to follow is again Morant. A miscalculated ride from Pike, it and winner finished clear of the rest.
They're talking about a trip across to the Randwick Guineas for Sir Hallowell.

schonegg 14th February 2010 06:43 PM

Rare to see daring tactics like Brown did on Saratime at Bunbury. Was midfield, took off at the 600m established a 3 lengths lead but beaten by a nose on the line.

a few to follow from wednesday’s ascot meeting..

isabella maree..ran on well for 3rd..bounded on jumping..raced wide from the 400m..
classic retreat..just pipped after racing wide throughout..
mr mikimoto..ran on well for 3rd..held tight over the final stages..
timberlands..running on well (4th)..raced wide from the 800m..

schonegg 19th February 2010 09:29 PM

Ascot Saturday

R1 - leader Hot Tamale. Distance 1200m new for all, no value.

R2 - leader maybe Dangerous Dane. Tip Escape Velocity / Dangerous Dane. Lay Arctic Waters.

R4 - good pace with Twilight Hero / Classic Smile. Watch Antique Rose, 1st start, well bred. Lay Classic Smile.

R5 - leader Acute Brute. Tip Galaxy Queen - Street Value. Lay Double Barrel.

de troy roy & the pupster should appreciate the 1200..hot tamale did come from behind debut win over 1100..

schonegg 21st February 2010 01:06 AM

Great win by the 3 year old filly For Your Eyes Only. With 55.5kg taking on some Welter/Open seasoned gallopers, she was the widest on straightening but picked them up in about 3 strides in a lightning sprint, eased down on the line. Impressive!

schonegg 22nd February 2010 07:51 PM

Another to follow

Was first starter Saytorio, from the Durrant stable. Found the early speed a bit fast, but finished full of run, the last bit was real good.

..all or most of her early races..ridden for speed..huge improvement now settling back in the field..

jake 24th February 2010 02:03 PM

a couple to follow from saturday's ascot meeting..

the pupster..just warming late for 2nd..slow to begin..raced wide from the 500m..
saytorio (agree with schonegg) ran on well for 3rd..raced greenly throughout..

jake 25th February 2010 10:58 PM

..looking forward to the return of bridgestone this saturday (listed challenge stakes)..victoria derby campaign cut short due to a respiratory condition..unplaced only trial since..but no doubt will be motoring home at the business end of saturdays race..

schonegg 26th February 2010 10:37 PM

Good racing at Ascot, and keeping an eye on Sir Hallowell in Sydney

R2) Best backed early Sacred Crown 4.4 -> 3.6 in a tricky race. Possibly Avante can swoop home late.

R3) Best backed Highest Honour 5.5 -> 3.8 in a race of speedy types. Classofherown had a gun run last time(1st up) and did nothing. Back to better suited 1000m, will be near last early, can finish over the top in a race of chances.

R5) Don't like Taharka so a Lay.

R6) a Listed 3YO race with a couple of Derby hopefuls. No tip. Pike on Morant is the hot favorite and the distance looks to suit. Trainer Jim Taylor has a big opinion of Dampier Dayz, might attempt to lead.

R8) Jockey Whiting had a choice between Tudor Lad and Moccassin Bend and chose the later, even though the former(with Pike) is the favorite. Best tip is to include non-winner Hide the Loot in all multiples, will get back and run on late.

Very good run today Jake. Made a strong run in between runners then hit a brick wall about 75m out and Parnham had to ease it to a jog.

jake 1st March 2010 10:40 AM

..sir hallowell..top run!..can only strip fitter..

MyHatMyCoat 1st March 2010 04:09 PM

Interesting news re WA boom galloper Hay List trained by Jim Taylor. Still heading east despite recent injury set-back but will be prepared by former WA trainer John McNair now based in NSW. Seems other stablemates owned in same interest are also leaving Jim Taylor stables.
