Impressive Jeuney very impressive on Saturday. Will she backup in next Saturday's Group I WA Derby? Connections still undecided.

There will be betting chaos if she doesn't start. The trainer said he'll pay the acceptance with her but won't decide until Saturday morning if she races.

It's understandable he's looking after her, but if he scratches her on race morning those that took the fixed odds etc. on any runner will be short changed by deductions etc. and the race makeup totally changes complexion.

partypooper 19th April 2010 11:43 PM

my tip, just sit back and watch the race, OR if you must; back the ppm SEL.
OR THE 3RD LETTER "r"

OR JUST BACK NO 1 FOR A PLACE!! HEE HEE !

SEE HOW WE GO?

schonegg 20th April 2010 06:54 PM

:) Party...doesn't look a great race(tricky actually) so sitting it out might be best anyway.

If she recovers ok from her Oaks run I'd be running her in the Derby. From memory Oaks winners do pretty well whenever they backup. Most recent runs by the Parnham pair were below expectation. Last start winner Brother Mak should relish the extra distance. The David Hayes-trained Chartreux did well when runner-up behind the promising staying Rundle last time out Flemington.

According to the press trainer Darren McAuliffe has declared Impressive Jeuney a certain starter!

Great news for all Hat!

schonegg 23rd April 2010 09:45 PM

Ascot - WA Derby

It's a tricky race and any of the main chances can win.

Top chances
----------------------

2 Bridgestone - early favorite a month ago that easily beat some of these 2 starts ago before last start had a pre-race stone bruise so raced with pads, loomed up to them at the 200m mark but peaked(with 58kg). That was probably forgiveable and the positives here are back to 3yo class at the set weights, barrier 4, has the strongest finish, and this race has been the target all along.

5 Brother Mak - Heavily backed last time and after travelling under a throttle hold found the gaps and won well. Meets God Has Spoken much worse at the weights but is getting better as the distances are getting longer.

Others
----------------------

1 God Has Spoken - handled the home turn horribly last start and then finished off ok. Barrier 3 will help as it will get a soft run midfield near the rails and then Parnham will need to find the gaps.

13 Impressive Jeuney - Powered clear from the fillies last week in the Oaks, sure to lead from stablemate Four Floors/Smart Twister, and gets the 2kg advantage. Beaten on its merits against Bridgestone 3 starts ago but going much better now since leading(didn't lead that day).

3 Chartreux - At its last 2 runs it kept going strongly to the line, is very consistent and from barrier 1 has to be at least a Trifecta chance.

jake 24th April 2010 04:27 PM

..another good effort by werd today..hasn't looked back since lugging bit & w inkers removed..5 starts without..for 3 wins & twice runner-up..

Rogan Josh 27th April 2010 06:44 AM

Chartreux looked very good winning on Saturday guys. Nice debuts both Scenic Park & Delianuova imo.

schonegg 27th April 2010 07:32 PM

Jake, Werd has developed into a speedball rolling in front!

RJ, 1200m might be perfect for Delianuova, good debut.

Anyone taking notes on last Saturday's meeting might want to add that the inside pad was certainly better going.

Back to Belmont this Saturday!

hi schonegg..do you think werd could handle the higher class races?

schonegg 29th April 2010 10:15 PM

hey Jake, his Rating is now 85 so they probably should race him again in a 74-86 Band to get another win (would get topweight so they'd Claim), then think about open class. Certainly an improving type.

schonegg 30th April 2010 10:00 PM

Belmont Saturday

The exciting Waratah's Secret resumes in the first, 60kg and all. $1.55 is a joke price though.

R6 WA Sires Produce

Top chances

5 Motion Pictures - was ridden hard to win the Karrakatta, is she fresh enough for another maximum effort? The good barrier will give her a soft run, distance shouldn't be a problem, top pick.

2 Big Josh - Didn't finish as well as Miss Condition last time, but by sire Blackfriars expecting he'll get better as the distances get longer. Barrier 9 is tricky, might be 3 wide with a trail. Worth a shot at $7+.

Others

6 Miss Condition - great run in the Karrakatta, wide and still ran on well.

Lay

7 Ortessa - sat outside the leader last start and bolted clear. This is a much different race against some strong finishers and it's a risk at the short odds $4.5

Rogan Josh 1st May 2010 07:02 PM

Another top effort from Motion Pictures today! Any plans to head east guys?

schonegg 1st May 2010 10:30 PM

Trainer didn't mention East in post race interview but you never know. She should get 1600m.

One to follow is Canardly Miss. Ran home well without really threatening. There's a Provincial final at Belmont in a couple of weeks which will suit her.

Rogan Josh 5th May 2010 09:33 AM

Thanks schonegg. Since read going for a spell then back for the Ascot summer carnival.

jake 6th May 2010 08:36 PM

a couple to follow..belmont..last sat

..brandy lane..5th..warming late..over-raced early stages..

..striken..runner-up..warming late..had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 200m..

..won yesterday..ew odds..

schonegg 10th May 2010 06:07 PM

Well done Jake. Striken has been very consistent.

One to follow from last Saturday is Casanova Jack. Was firstup and raced outside the lead, putting pressure on the leader well before the turn(why?) and stuck on for 3rd behind the two closers.

jake 10th May 2010 07:50 PM

..thanks schonegg..striken is very honest..
..casanova jack has a great 2nd-up record..so should be very interesting next start..

Rogan Josh 12th May 2010 03:38 PM

What's the latest, Kid Choisir, guys? Thought a top effort earlier this month winning the Northam Sprint firstup. Any plans to head east?

schonegg 14th May 2010 08:45 PM

Belmont

Race1 - Waratah's Secret began awkwardly last time, took a sit and finished close 2nd, well ahead of the rest. Not the ideal distance but should win at short odds.

Race3 - Staeck took off too early last time on Chin Chin. Better for the run at the distance and drawn well again. Dangers 4/8.

Race4 - Joke price for Tudor Lad, but nothing else stands out. Stay out of this race.

Race6 - very tough race. Eachway at $10 going for Coiled Spring. Will probably box seat and have every chance. Multiples throw in first upper Chance In Time.

Race7 - Bolton Sprint. Good race, but almost impossible as there's lots of queries. Will probably have something small on Black In Time, and in multiples.

RJ, would like to know as well re Kid Choisir. Top win at Northam.

They were talking the Bolton Sprint just run & a trip to Melbourne. Didn't accept for the Bolton, not sure why not?

Not much luck Black In Time, schonegg. Restricted room final stages, Jessica Hill unable to ride her mount out.

Most impressive the Bolton Sprint winner, Grand Nirvana. Interestingly the owner / breeder had aspirations for Grand Nirvana to stand at stud, but they decided to geld him last summer instead. The way the horse won on Sat suggests they may have made the right decision.

Easy win to Chin Chin, schonegg. Connections have a high opinion of the horse. Likely to back up this Saturday, then spelled and the brought back for an Ascot campaign later this year.

You're right Hat, in again tomorrow. $2 isn't value but is improving and on Limit weight. Might go the 4-3 Exacta.

R3 - Waratah's Secret has burned holes in punters' pockets big time lately. In this race the distance suits, should lead easily, must finally break through. In multiples 3&4.

R5 - Thundelarra gets back but was a little unlucky last time and 3rd up should be ready and be in the finish. Multiples 6&7&1.

schonegg 22nd May 2010 10:02 PM

Some massive form reversals probably due to the rain, but of the good runs Premardal is worth following as it ran a good sectional beating Waratah's Secret in R3 (spacing the rest).

dante's alert..got home well..beaten snk..

Belmont Saturday

With some drying weather the track should play fairer than last week.

R1) Mabel Grace to lead throughout. Out of a Serheed mare so 1600m shouldn't be a problem. Too short for win so a 2-1 Exacta at more than $3 would be value. Villagio for trifectas.

R3) Mega Mak not raced since Dec 08 and the trainer is only fair with first uppers so we need to check the fluctuations.

R4) The way this might be run will suit Sacred Crown but many are tipping it so it'll be unders, so a big watch on Lordsea from Tony Noonan's Satellite stable. Will go forward.

R6) Roma Cup. Kid Choisir is into WFA grade but won very well at Northam and from a good draw will probably box seat. Small stakes though as it's a talent field. Watch on first upper Phenomenons for future races.

..many chances schonegg..if kid choisir does well today..an eastern states campaign would have to be a consideration..

..was a very nice performance by mega mak yesterday..schonegg..after such a long layoff..has to be improved by the run..

schonegg 30th May 2010 02:49 PM

On Werd, I thought it was going to be tough for him but he keeps winning Jake! Hope you put something on him.

From yesterday, congrats to Jim Taylor on getting the quinella in the Roma Cup. He nearly got the Trifecta as well.

One to follow is Mabel Grace. Didn't lead and she didn't like being restrained. Expect that to change next time.

I think you'll find that Waratah's Secret has gone to the spelling paddock. Trainer hasn't been happy with the horse this prep, neither have the punters! LOL
