Glad I didn't have a WA TAB account

Barakey returned with an elevated heart rate & was slow to recover. So all not 100%.

Smoko has suffered an injury to his suspensory ligament and will out for at least 3 months. |
That's no good, fingers crossed for a full recovery!

One door closes another opens! Hometown success in the Winterbottom to the Taylor / Brown combination with Barakey's stablemate, Magnifisio. Although Taylor still rates Magnifisio three or four lengths inferior to Barakey he is contemplating a trip east for the mare. Magnifisio has now won 13 races from 23 starts, total prize money $1,576,600. |
Sandgroper, the original ! :) Been a while!
Locals ran 1,2,3,4. Surprised the invaders from the east didn't do better. In particular Angelic Light. Just read the stewards report, had a tendency to lay out in the straight, but nothing else. Puzzling! |

William Pike produced a gem of a ride to steer Elite Belle to victory in the Railway Stakes. Pike had the choice of the three Railway Stakes runners, Elite Belle & Respondent trained by Grant Williams & the Adam Durrant trained Ranger. Balmont Girl made it a hometown quinella. Eastern State visitors Moriarty & Smokin’ Joey finished 3rd & 4th. Pike, the wizard of the west, said he was keen to have another crack in the Eastern States. Elite Belle has now won 9 races from 23 starts, total prize money $1,207,300.

Gee, tough race. Gai Waterhouse has Pheidon engaged. On pace horse which should be suited at Ascot. 13/1 both totes, worth a bit, maybe.

One for the visitors. Veteran stayer Moriarty beat the locals in the Kingston Town Classic. 10th Group 1 win for the season for Chris Waller.
Well ridden by Hong Kong’s champion jockey Douglas Whyte, who replaced the suspended Nash Rawiller. Moriarty has now won 13 races from 52 starts, total prize money $1,665,440. |
Moriarty would have to be the one to beat in the upcoming C.B. Cox Stakes
