Cheers, Sandgroper
|
Barakey / Smoko, anybody have updates ?
|
Smoko still spelling, expected to return towards the end of next month.
|
Thanks, hopefully all good Barakey.

Mr Moet, who has struggled in his last two campaigns in Perth, has been retired. Mr Moet won 12 races from 42 starts, total prize money $1,538,430.
Likely to begin a new life on the equestrian circuit. |

Don't recall him wining on the oz east coast but some good runs including a tidy effort in the 2013 Caulfield Cup finishing not that far behind the winner |

..devastating news..elite belle ..a huge loss to wa racing.. |

Terribly sad news news jake. Elite Belle passed away after suffering a heart attack on a flight to the east coast of Australia. The 6yo mare was to be set for the Championships in Sydney for the autumn carnival after the impressive mare won both the Group 2 Cox Stakes and Group 1 Railway Stakes. |
That is sad. A very talented mare who probably never really fulfilled her enormous potential.
|
That's a real shock. Reported that her flight had been airborne for only 30 minutes when Elite Belle collapsed & passed away in her stall. An autopsy later confirmed she died of a suspected heart attack.
|
The lean time continues for Bob Peters (owner Elite Belle). His mare, Real Love, recently gone east, was unplaced today Caulfield. Also nominated for the Australian Cup & Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
|
Better luck for Peters Investments Pty Ltd. Disposition a gallant 2nd yesterday in the CS Hayes Stakes, at his first eastern state start.
|
Disposition's main Melbourne aim is the Group 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington on March 7. Got to be hard to beat.

WA form around Disposition working out okay Rommel won the first at Caulfield today |
Quote:
Rommel nominated for the Australian Guineas also |

Disposition to miss Saturday’s Australian Guineas. The Bob Peters-owned galloper fell over when he got away from handlers at trainer Wez Hunter’s Mornington stable. 10 days to two weeks to get back on track. |

might still do a sydney autumn campaign |
Quote:
Yeah, thought he was a good chance today, but scratched! Unsure why. |

..hi hat ..injury near fore fetlock ..gone for a spell |
Cheers jake. Did follow up. Injury wasn't too bad, trainer playing safe.
|
gee willikers, wasn't Lucky Street ultra impressive in the Karrakatta Plate yesterday!

Belated sad news. Sandgroper Hay List was humanely euthanised on 3 February 2015 after suffering from laminitis, he was 9 years old.
Originally trained by Jimmy Taylor, Hay List won 8 from 9 starts in Perth before relocating east. The gelding had a history of hoof and leg problems throughout his career and overcame many obstacles to get back to the track. The winner of three Group One races, Hay List ran second to Black Caviar four times at the highest level. Overall, Hay List won 15 races from 28 starts, total prize money $2,559,575. RIP big fellow. |
One for the west. Perth galloper Watermans Bay won the Group III Victoria Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday. Paid $19.50 in WA.
Prior to heading east, Watermans Bay was an unlucky second in the Group I Winterbottom Stake, then won the A.J. Scahill Stakes, then ran second in the Cyril Flower Stakes. Watermans Bay has now won 10 races from 36 starts, total prize money $989,950. |

Trainer Trevor Andrews was impressed enough to suggest he might start the entire in the Winterbottom at the end of the year. A stud career beckons further down the track. |

Bit of a surprise,,didn't place? |
As per RWWA website.
Champion Western Australian sprinter Barakey has run his final race. Trainer Jim Taylor confirmed the Key Business gelding had been retired following his unplaced run in Sunday’s Listed Northam Stakes (1100m). “He’s had a number of issues but the main one was his off side knee where he had no cartilage and it was bone on bone. “If there was any way you could regrow a damaged cartilage he would have kept racing but it doesn’t get any better. “It’s sad he won’t be in the stable but he will be on my property for the rest of his days because he has earned a good retirement.” Barakey stepped out for his maiden appearance in 2011 and won 11 straight races culminating with Group 1 victory in the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m). He also won the Group 3 Colonel Reeves Stakes (1100m), Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1200m) and Listed Goodwood Sprint (1300m) and Northam Stakes (1100m). Barakey, with 13 wins and one placing from 17 starts, won $832,200 in prize money. |

Thanks for the update Sandgroper. Congrats to all those associated with Barakey. Nil news Smoko from what I can make out. |

Don't see any recent trials or nominations for Smoko |
Quote:
Much better luck for Bob Peters with Delicacy. Delicacy recently won both the South Australian Oaks & Derby. Six wins in a row now including the WA Oaks & Derby. |
Quote:
From memory Smoko's tendon injury was pretty severe. Expect that would take many months to get right, before they could even consider getting back on the track. |

Perth's Mr Utopia doing ok on the east coast |
Yes Sands, Mr Utopia has done very well. Winner twice from three starts, the other, was looking for further. Going around R8 Flemington tomorrow. Same race eastern states debut for He or She. Winner seven from nine starts in Perth.

..bookies taking no chances..around 4/1 currently |

Cheeky devils, way too short. Started $3.90F. Need of the run against that kind of opposition. Did okay, beaten just over 3L. Another top effort by Mr Utopia. Great chance again Saturday at Flemington. |

Let's hope no news is still good news, hey Sandgroper. |
2yo Blackwood looking a bit above average
|
3yo Tradesman as well, perhaps
