Winning double for Lucy Warwick on Saturday. Lucy's metro winners tally now sits at 61, just 13 wins behind William Pike on 74. Pike has been sidelined since early May & is now recovering from a shoulder operation.

Pike is back & riding winners
Lucy has done well in his absence
Unsure current tallies but would imagine Pike's still in the lead

Smoko finished 2nd behind Proceedwithcaution. That horse pretty handy, winner 7 of 14 career starts. Likely Smoko will defend his Listed Belmont Newmarket title first-up on August 8, depending how he pulled-up after the trial.

MyHatMyCoat 9th August 2015 02:03 PM

Nothing wrong with Smoko's run in the Belmont Newmarket yesterday. Small but select field, Smoko led them up until he ran out of puff, finishing 3rd. Hopefully no harm done.

Thought we would have seen Proceedwithcaution on track by now
Nominated 8th & 15th August but not accepted
Wonder if all ok

Leader until lack or race condition told. Eventually beaten 2.75L. Obviously will pull up better for the run, his 2nd race start, following his 38 week spell. Big run the winner, Wink And A Nod.

The 1200m just a tad too short Saturday (Birthday Stakes) but still a strong effort to get 4th, 1 3/4 L behind the winner, Black Heart Bart, who is no slouch.

Huge performance by WA's Kia Ora Koutou in the Victoria Derby. Unbeaten only four starts in Perth, Kia Ora Koutou had no trouble handling the extra distance & fought on extra well to run 3rd.

Buffering too classy for them. New race record. Race double, won the race back in 2013. Missed last year in preference to Hong Kong. Heading to Dubai in 2016 according to trainer Robert Heathcote.
