Geraldton
Apparently the first meeting for the 2005/06 season for the Geraldton Turf Club was a great success. Big crowd on course and the on course turnover (corresponding meeting last year) was up by over 100%
Must get up there one weekend and check it out! |

Lindsay Smith maintaining his planned schedule with Plastered to run in this Saturday's Cathay Pacific Airways (Moonee Valley) Cup over 2500m. |
will he or wont he?
Quote:
Yep, as per schedule Modem but there's more riding on Plastered's performance next Sat than maybe originally planned. Greg Childs is to ride (instead of the pontiff) so connections can get an 'independent' opinion of the horse’s fitness and how he's progressing. If they're not happy after the run Plastered may miss the big one and run in the Sandown Classic (2400m Nov 12). |
Quote:
You should definitely make a point of attending one of their meets Modem. Very laid-back and pleasant atmosphere! And it's not all that far from Perth. |

A real shame and a big loss to the racing world. Been buried on the Freedman's property next to that great sprinter Schillachi. |
Not a happy ending to a career that in retrospect was more impressive than most people realise. Gone but not forgotten.

Avenida Madero
On a happier note Avenida Madero was given an easy time in winning a 1000m trial at Belmont today. She is returning from a short spell and will be aiming to win some of the blue ribbon events over the summer carnival.

Acid test for Destinys Day. Really has to do well in this to have any chance in the derby. Not done form proper but the David Hayes gelding McCloud is very well bred and has already shown form over distance |

Not sure if more hullabaloo or not but it seems that the pontiff has publicly stated win or lose on Saturday, Plastered will not be fit enough to perform near or at his best in the Melbourne Cup and is concerned re Plastered’s welfare if they push on with a run!? |

A bit of Mt Magnet Cup trivia for you – the win by Frappe on Saturday (leading all the way so I’ve been told) gave trainer Kevin Mahoney his 3rd Mt Magnet Cup in a row. |

Mr Celebrity is surprisingly short for a horse who from memory hasn't raced beyond 1600. I know he has exceptional group form and I know Gai's a top trainer but jumping from 1600 to 2400!? Fantastic effort if he can do it!! |
