Belmont 6

The Fair Alert 1400M

1 King Bluey 4 58.5 Peter Hall
2 Blue's Guitar 6 53.5 Jessica Valas
3 Toorak Robbie 8 53.5 Jason Whiting
4 At The Scene 3 53 Mark Forder

No real idea!? my old man used to say to me ‘when in doubt go for the topweight’ so King Bluey from Vie For Vanity and At The Scene.

The Gray Bear? 5's on? At least that is what is showin on the NSW TAB at the moment.. I think it will win, but 5's ON?

Gday westman

ended up 1.7 over here in the end.. backin them that short is risky as evidenced by the last in brissie...

Sportz 19th October 2005 05:03 PM

Amazed at the price really, seeing as it opened up on Unitab showing $1.00/$1.00.

Good old Paul Harvey. :D

PATfromPERTH 19th October 2005 05:37 PM

Belmont 7

The Lynsted Lad 1300M

1 Cracker Thunder 7 57.5 Russell Stewart
2 Glass Maker 1 56.5 Troy Turner
3 Grand Chienne 10 54.5 David O'Heare
4 Nikita Blue 6 53.5 William Pike
5 Classy Grace 2 53 Brad Parnham
6 Dark Review 4 53 Jason Brown
7 Deal Or No Deal 3 53 Alana Sansom
8 Glen Erin Rose 12 53 Jason Whiting
9 Happy Dis SCRATCHED
10 Miner's Lady 5 53 Danny Miller
11 Rosaglow 9 53 Patrick Carbery
12 Zedsecret 8 53 Craig Staples

Bit of a stab this race Classy Grace to win from Grand Chienne but nil confidence.

PATfromPERTH 19th October 2005 06:00 PM

Belmont 8

The Crimson Medal 1200M

1 Mordor 9 57 Shaun Mc Gruddy
2 Tribal Warrior 3 56 Stephen Miller
3 Talbot Bay SCRATCHED
4 On Our Metal 2 54 Troy Turner
5 Overmaster 12 54 Patrick Carbery
6 Rue The Storm 4 53.5 Paul Harvey
7 Danglememagic 8 53 Kevin Forrester
8 Our Whisper SCRATCHED
9 Rubimaya 7 53 Jason Brown
10 Shecky Palace 5 53 T. Ikenushi
11 Uncle Graham 1 53 Jason Whiting
12 War Pak SCRATCHED
13 Wild Frankie 10 53 William Pike

Going for a bit a value with Rubimaya a maiden with a bit of promise who a couple of starts back pushed Attadale who has since won at Belmont from On Our Metal and Rue The Storm (not much between these two) and seeing it’s the 'get out stakes' chuck in the topweight Mordor.

WELL what can we say? A fantastic effort to miss the start settle a clear last circle the field from the 600m extremely wide and still finish on their hammer!!

THEN was sensationally scratched after the race with stewards ruling he was not afforded a fair start!!

BUT (wait a minute there's more) he now still needs to qualify for a start in the Melbourne Cup!!!

AND after all that I DIDN'T back the winner! PHEW!!

yeh the Harvey factor very common on our tab obviously he has the same effect nation wide
swings and roundabouts can work in your favour (laying him) sometimes

The Gray Bear

I note Harvey adopted similar ‘surprise’ tactics (as per last ride) to lead all the way on The Gray Bear. Given The Gray Bear has shown versatility in the way he can be ridden perhaps he too is gunna be a stayer! ;)

Cheda 20th October 2005 05:18 AM

Classy Grace

Outside the runs already mentioned for yesterday I didnt mind the run of Classy Grace (7th) the Metal Storm mare didnt shirk the task and fought on extra well at her first run back from a 8 month break. Might be one to follow!

Melbourne Cup betting for Plastered has been suspended in NSW

Plastered

No longer listed (cup) at all on the WA Tab!!

Modem 20th October 2005 11:15 AM

Plastered out of Melbourne Cup

According to a press report just released in WA Plastered has been scratched from the cup!

Still might stick around for the MacKinnon or the Sandown Classic or may head home to tackle the million dollar bonus races over the Ascot summer carnival - now that would be interesting!!

Galilee 20th October 2005 11:39 AM

Just a little sceptical

Now if I was a sceptic I’d be thinking…...what a great compromise!

PartyA (owner & jockey) get their way and PartyB (trainer) doesn’t lose face ;)
