One hopes they will consider renaming it the "The Bart Cummings Melbourne Cup"

A fitting tribute to a great trainer.

Brown Panther won't be making the trip down under. Suffered a compound fracture of his hind leg, in Sunday’s Irish St Leger. Unfortunately had to be put down.

Protectionist well beaten in the George Main Stakes since but trainer Kris Lees happy with his progress. Expecting a better effort in the Turnbull Stakes next.

Big wraps Order of St George, a highly promising Irish-bred stayer from the Aidan O'Brien stable & current 2nd favourite for the big one. Not a guaranteed starter, but he's entered quarantine in Ireland so the signs are positive at this stage.

Fame Game looks a top chance in this. All the better for his 1st up run in the Caulfield Cup. Has a good 2nd up record. Will run the distance. 2 wins 3400m. Last try 3200m, 2nd strong Tenno Sho carrying 58kg.

..hey rhino82..if you fancied order of st george..a non starter i believe..then you would have to give consideration to bondi beach ($21)
..bondi beach narrowly beat order of st george in the curragh cup..over 2800m
..2nd twice since..2400m & 2900m
..nicely weighted on 52.5kgs & assured of a start (7th order of entry)

Agree fully. It was the eye catcher in the Caulfield cup as far as Melbourne cup potential. $4.80 is low odds but its probably spot on as its got a great chance.

Well I went through my systems for Melb Cup.

They have a 90% strike rate within the selections.

They only came up with 3 selections this year :

The United States
Our Ivanhoe
Hartnell

On top of this I will throw in 2 selections to cover those which the market rates well :

Fame Game
Max Dynamite

Those are the 5 selections if staked to return $100 then :

The United States $5
Our Ivanhoe $4
Hartnell $3

Total : $12 to win $100

but with these:
Fame Game $25
Max Dynamite $8

$45 to win $100.
