On A roll

Nice form L2B,

Unlike me, you have the guts to post your selections and it seems to be rolling along nicely.

I'm gathering the strength to post a few myself, but I must say this forum does post some good punts.

Good Luck

Stix

luv2bet 30th May 2005 04:30 PM

No banana today, will stick to better race days I think.

wednesday looks good, will try again then.

Stix 30th May 2005 04:44 PM

same here...

Mr ed 30th May 2005 05:02 PM

What do you guys think?

Been out of action for ages but a few weeks ago i caught a glimpse of Willie Command running an extremely good close-up second at Benalla over a mile, and thought to myself it would win it's next start over a bit further. Well it didn't, but still ran a great race over 2000, got back to far in a slowly run race behind Frere Jacques at Ballarat but went to the line strongly to be beaten .5 length. It is engaged at Sandown wednesday over 2100 and i think it looks a good chance. Physique is certainly classy enough but seems to be struggling at the moment, i think Willie has Frere Jacques covered with a bit more speed and the long uphill straight, and Goasgoodas also looks a threat but rises sharply in distance. With in form Callow aboard from barrier 3 i think he's a real chance, Any thoughts on the race?

Can't beleive the price you got emlozza at yesterday, i didn't even know she ran until today but her form last spring was first class and she wasn't racing much, well done.

luv2bet 30th May 2005 09:02 PM

Without really studying the race as yet, my opinion may change, but going on what you have pointed out above definately looks like a genuine chance. Willie command certainly has had a path for a win, and you may get decent odds for him also. I will wait until wednesday to decide but I will keep him in mind.

Well spotted mr ed hope he wins for ya!!!

On emlozza, I went over for caulfield guineas last year and had a fortune on him (my bet of day) in the thoroughbred stakes, because of how smart he was, he won well. Couldnt believe seeing him pop up in a sunday race at sandown. I will keep track of this horse, he will win a few more yet.

maverick1993 30th May 2005 09:52 PM

Been Following him for awhile Mr Ed... with some nice results...
not sure hes right up to city class ...but i havent seen the field..
has a nice turn of foot at the business end...and settles well ...
i'll wait till i see the field though before i jinx him into last :) ..

Mr ed 31st May 2005 09:26 AM

He certainly should be some value as there is some good country form going into the race with rural law and also Spirit of Marscay who's form around Great Sandy and Senor De Lago stacks up well for this. Also got a recent Sandown winner in Our Court engaged, all of this with a probable wet track, now i know why i called it quits!

I backed Tahni Girl in that race L2B, she ran third i think the second horse rn a top race, Miss Mooney Mooney or something like that. I backed Emlozza at her next start on Cox Plate day @ $2.50 when she was raped by Tenacious Spirit and nearly fell ******** over, she then ran in the Hilton, she is a top filly. I really can't catch her though, I saw her first maiden win at Bendigo i think and was impressed so backed her at $7 in a Mooney Valley night meeting only to run second to the little known filly Ballet Society, so i got off and her next start she walked in at the Valley beating another ordinary filly in Hollow Bullet.

maverick1993 31st May 2005 09:43 PM

Mr Ed..

Just looked at the that Race with Willie Command..
pretty tough race i think...Willie will like the speed and i'm guessing there will be alot on..Rural law and Our Court will want to lead ..Campaign will want to be there as well..
I've been on campaign and he won very impressivly last start..and if they go hard in front he'll be there just off them and give a good sight,,,
Willie and Spirit Of Marscay will both be there and i wouldnt right off physique and Hong kong Cheri..lol....
to hard for me this race..i've been on Campaign and he was so impressive that i'll stick with him,,but he'll have to be nice eachway odds..
If its wet Spirit of Marscay will be a big show..

Nice trifecta race this one Mr Ed ..but if you like Willie i'd stick with him because he should get the tempo to suit..

Good Luck :)

ps..Check out Statice in the 5th...must of had probs but 2 runs have been very impressive...might be a show at odds..
General Conclusion and Limited Impulse look good aswell..

some good races around for a Wednesday

Mr ed 1st June 2005 12:28 AM

Cheers mate, will certainly have a look. Do you remember that Tip of the day thread Mav, my first post on it was Opio Miss to win at Bendigo and you liked Scarlet Scene if i recall. Opio Miss looks near on unbeatable tommorow, in every aspect, extremely well in after claim, small field suits no matter what tempo is set, extra distance big plus i think she is a very promising stayer, and form when taking ground off Joy of Flight and Umber classes above tommorows very average field. I will take anything @ even money or over, but think i could be struggling to get it. Her good win at Bendigo was also on dead ground so another plus, she really looks to have these covered, thoughts?

P.S It was Truly Wicked who raped Emlozza not Tenacious Spirit who was falsely accused and has been aquited of all charges.

Cheers ED

luv2bet 1st June 2005 11:34 AM

Wednesday is here and its a good solid raceday.
My selections for today are as follows.

Sydney race 3 no 3
IM NO SQUARE.
his run against sir ernesto was quite solid and should appreciate the extra trip here. Nothing wrong with the stable or jockey either.

Sydney race 5 no 1
FREEDOM REIGNS
Been placed in all six of his starts. Both races this campaign have been good racing in same class today. Dont think rise in wieght will be a factor. Hes a smart horse.

Strathalbyn race 6 no 3
SPIRITED AND SEXY
His last run at murray bridge was exeptional I thought, from barrier 15, and hes drawn much better today. Rise is distance should suit well, and with the 2kg claim from promising apprentice baker should run on well.

Good luck to all having a crack today!

Mr ed 1st June 2005 04:07 PM

Nice one L2B,

I got greedy and took $1.85 for Opio Miss much to my dismay. Hinton should never ride again, he simply can't get horses going he lacks everything skill, vigure, technique, he wouldn't have swatted a fly with his whips that take forever to wind up with his long arms. Anyone who gets tapes have a look at him trying to ride her out as opposed to say Baster on Hurricance Gust from the same stable or even Nick Ryan on the winner, the 3kg doesn't mean much if your not urging the horse on. I'm sure this made all the difference as she had plenty left to give.

Oh well hopefully Willie comes through with the good jock on!

maverick1993 1st June 2005 04:56 PM

Well Done Mr Ed hope you got on...bit short for me and even Campaign was shorter than i expected..it showed on the tote what a hard race it was with most runners backed....but not hard for you Mr Ed hope you got better than the tote ..

Had 4 2nds today :( Jeteye, Tellem , General Conclusion and Limited Impulse...i sure know how to stop them..

Statice was unbeleivably short...i was expecting 20,s or something..must have some ability and will keep an eye on him..

Yep i remember that thread..g...Scarlet scene was to hard to catch for me ...as soon as i jumped off she won ..

one of those days ..

Mr ed 1st June 2005 05:24 PM

Cheers mate, yeh i got top flux but don't know what it was. I was going to have $500 Opio Miss - Willie all up, i wanted to get that really good win, you all know the one, so i went there in the morning, when she went down my confidence was shattered and i only had 200 on him with a bookie and then left, still a great run and result, but what could've and should've been, if not for that cretin Ryan Hinton, even the strapper had a dip at him after the race, he said "Think you need a bit more time in the country mate". It was pretty funny i was thinking to myself 'country jockey' I think he mispoke by adding an 'ry'. Bad luck Mav, it wasn't an easy dea for anyone at Sandown really.

Another one to follow who will win if not his next start, very soon, is Tearinupthecounty racing in Queensland, stable has massive opinion and his first up run was extremely unlucky but good, he came down here for a spell and was backed off the map but again unlucky.

Might as well add the others in my blackbook here, Soveriegn Fire (vic provs), Miss Starnee (riverina provs), and Sunboy (Melbourne or Adelaide) metro, Opio Miss (Melbourne or Adelaide). These are the only five horses i'll bet on until i see another, HUGE RUN.

Cheers Guys might go quiet till on of these comes up.

luv2bet 1st June 2005 10:30 PM

well done mr ed. I had a good go on him myself.
very well pointed out.

Tenacious Spirit 2nd June 2005 09:40 AM

Yes twas truly wicked, not my namesake who raped emlozza, TS is a top mare, waiting for her return.

I couldn;t believe the price for emlozza, i hadn;t seen this thread but i was on as soon as i saw those 8's, she was (and is) classes above esp with a bit of sting out of the ground.

P.S. Mr Ed i remember you saying you were leaving the game due to university. I too am at university, just wondering out of curiosity which one you attend?

Cheers.

Mr ed 2nd June 2005 11:13 PM

La Trobe - Bundoora i'm doing comm/eco, yourslef?

Tenacious Spirit is certainly a good mare, i first remember her for her win Thousand Guineas day, one of 5 for Ollie. She cost me last prep though when she beat the unbeatable Amtrak at Flemington, she then ran a mighty 4th in the Dubai Duty Free behind Regal Roller, OER, Alinghi not a bad little trifecta of horses to be beaten by, do you know anything about her return?

L2B- Glad you had a dip mate, thought we might get 7 or 8 but hey how can we complain. He gave us a heart flutter when Spirit of Marscay went straight past but he always looked like he had plenty left and a good run through by Callow, who is clearly one of our best.

Hoorah, that was a great win by an emerging horse. He had a big weight, in a big field, on a slow track and gave the leaders a decent break with 200 to go, he is worth following again.

Great win by Vittesse Dane L2B, your consistently finding a winner, well done.

maverick1993 5th June 2005 07:00 PM

was a great win Mr Ed..the bookies on course were gambling with him and he had the weight of just about everyones cash at the track on him...saved me from a frustrating run of placings...Clanger and Rear Amiral..
also had Pegunny Dream for 2nd..
good day at the Sunny Coast though...fantastic track and facilities as well..

luv2bet 5th June 2005 08:11 PM

Great pick again Ed. I got sidetracked and missed the race, wasnt happy but theres always tomorrow. Had 1 bet today and it won so i cant complain to much.(regal summer in mornington).
Think I might have to keep track of that well stacked stable there Ed.
Well done mate!

Mr ed 5th June 2005 11:19 PM

Could have been a great day if Miss Starnee got up at Donald she was nice odds @ $6 but had to settle for second behind Sauvette, still an each way collect, but do i bet E/W?

Really looking forward to Sovereign Fire's next run, whenever that might be, as a C1 her run when taking on C2's last start was very encouraging when got shuffled right back to last on the turn but picked herself up and got home well for 4th. Anyone else see the run? We will be able to check the form from the race with Cabaret Lady (another big run) racing in a couple of days.

luv2bet 8th June 2005 01:46 PM

Canterbury 3 viking warrior
canterbury 7 octama.

Good luck to all today

Mr ed 9th June 2005 02:13 AM

Having a small(ish) e/w go at Geelong Rc4 No.8 tommorow in At Peace. He is a maiden taking on a C1 showcase race tommorow but i think he will be good value. His last run was very encouraging when slowly away, was last all the way but got home strongly through the field to finish 3rd only beaten about 1.5 lengths. If he wins that race (which he well could have) he is no longer up in grade and gets in with probably 2kg more. He jumps from 1800 to 2200 tommorow but it really looks like it will suit, it does look a hard race with a few semi decent nags going around but i think this horse only .5kg over the minimum will be finishing as strongly as anything. I'll only bet if double figures.

Cheers ED

Tenacious Spirit 9th June 2005 09:48 AM

Mr. Ed, sorry for the long time between replies. I am at Melbourne studdying Commerce/media.

Just goes to show one persons misfortune is another ones fortune, i got 22's that day tenacious beat amtrak. Also shows how following a horse can pay off, rathe than considering just the form of the current race. Ie. if you lined up the form of amtrak and ts as you and most others probably did, amtrak would be the clear selection. It just so happened that i had been following the mare through the mid-weekers and continued to follow when she got to saturday grade.

The fnny thing was that the first time i backed her midweek she won and payed like 8's then she won again and still payed good each way odds. I then went to back her a third time and she was still e/w odds - obviously slipped under the radar of many.

I don't know about her return i have been asking around but knowone seems to have an idea. I am guessing she will probably be set for the spring. But she has had close to a year off scene.

Good to see there are some other young punters around.

Cheers,
Matt

Emlozza is running tomorow in the creswick stakes. Hasnt had a great run at flemington but I think that may be about to change. currently $12 fixed odds

Hmmm, would be good to know if she's coming back. I might have to include her in my list of horses for the Fantasy Racing comp just in case.

Mr ed 11th June 2005 12:40 AM

I think At Peace should probably Rest In, nah he will win a race at odds soon (i promise).

Funnily enough, Tenacious Spirit is entered on Monday at the valley in what looks a top notch sprint race.

What price we get Electic for tomorrow? I got the tip b4 it won first up and has absolutely ******** in both starts since spell, grows a leg in the wet and the rain i saw on the footy tonight should suit it perfectly, unless the races are called off. Might get even money + because the only danger; Attractions, was racing in top company last time in around Moet Magic, Dr John, Stormy Nova all very good horses. He is untried in the heavy however and has run good races but never won first up. Can't have enough on Electic if the odds are right, in an otherwise un-eventful day for me.

Sportz 11th June 2005 12:59 AM

Oh, well there you go.That was answered nice and quickly. Let's see how she goes.

Mr ed 11th June 2005 05:33 PM

Well Electic was at $1.80, close enough, so i unloaded. 4/5 shots don't win like that very often, especially when i'm on. Exacta with Attractions paid $4.30 was definately the go however.

luv2bet 13th June 2005 01:01 PM

lol.
terrible run. was tossing up between that and the winner prima nocte. that also has great first up form. oh well, back to the drawing board!

Mr ed 14th June 2005 03:46 PM

Just looking at the fields it looks a busy week for me, with a lot of my stable running in what look to all be suitable targets.

I've seen, before weights barriers etc.

Miss Starnee @ Cheltenham Saturday - Just went down and cost me plenty last time but is in rare form and will be a nice chance.

Willie Command @ Sandown Saturday - Great win @ track distance last time, meets some better horses but looks sure to be in the finish.

Tearinupthecountry @ Ipswich Satruday - Up in class but is a restricted race and he should get a nice weight drop, last win was grand and could go right on with it now.

Sovereign Fire @ Albury Saturday - Weak field, big run last time, just wins for mine.

Perhaps we should retitle this thread Hot Chips, but i just want to remember all these.

Tommorow i will be having a good crack @ El Man Goss, have followed him since his first start (4 length win this T,D), and he looks one out of the box. Jumped straight from a C3 to a C6 metro @ the Valley when last in work and came from seemingly immposible position when bursting through the field to claim track specialist Beach Box on the line. He then went to the Flem Straight and flew down the outside rail to be just beaten by the smart Twisted Times. His next start really hurt me when sent out short priced favorite @ Geelong, had a nice run but didn't show his usual ping in the straight, when making his run on the inside and was beaten a long nk by Air Cooled, who is no walker. He's a winner of 3 from 3 whilst fresh and is a heavy track winner. Tommorows field isn't weak and he will get back, which should ensure a decent quote of say $4-5, however he has a ************ of a sprint and i really think this fellow will go onto bigger and better things and will clean this field up on the way.

Will let Opio Miss go around without me tommorow, she should have won last time, but that was a weak race, much harder here taking on the boys (El Zahia in particular). She's drawn out, also going back in distance onto a track with a shorter straight. Will not be surprised if she runs well (without Hinton on) but not worth the risk in my book.

Anyone with thoughts on tommorows races please share them, I; like you Mav, really enjoy discussing tips rather then just listing them.

Cheers ED
