Is the revolution over, before it started?

I'm talking the net speed revolution promised by our government. Going to put us right up there with other nations, you'll be able to download movies in a matter of seconds, watch streaming shows......WAIT a minute!

Reading the press, since the launch of an American streaming service, a lot of people are now complaining how their internet service has markedly SLOWED, as their neighbours connect to the high speed broadband. Will the infrastructure be able to cope? I awoke this morning to the bot having conked out again (connection failure) recording UK races overnight. Wonder why?

Mal T is giving us a 'cheaper' NBN than the previous government. One that still relies on copper at the nodes? (or something like that). Will this be his undoing??

When you consider the standard of living we have in Australia and then compare the quality of our internet to countries that have a much lower standard of living than us ours still falls short by quite a bit.

Luckily where I live they are still going ahead with supplying NBN at some stage and I can't wait but the current ADSL2+ that majority of people have available is so far behind the times. For example I have to monitor/fix most IT issues in our office and if we have 1 person uploading a semi-large file to the internet it brings everyone else to a halt.

Have a look at this for average download speed rankings:

Unfortunately the biggest problem we have is the size of our great nation.

Has this present Govt got ANYTHING right?

The fact is they are about 5 years behind with the NBN, they should have been looking at newer technologies but waited so long that now we will be stuck with it, would love to know what speeds those using the NBN are getting
