For anyone thinking of doing this here is what I exclude.

A/ Races where there are horses that have never run before.

B/ Night Races .

C /WA Racing.

Apart from that its all very simple BUT you have to be in front of the computer so you really cant set and forget.

Cheers.

Hi darkydog2002,

Do you play all races, except your exclusions, with 10 or more starters at all meetings through races 1-4, or do you stop when you are in front a certain amount?

Just a query on your approach as I find it quite interesting.

Thanks for putting up so many ideas.

Hi Darky

Another way to use is to note the Bookmakers OPENING quote (in my opinion the BEST Rating method)

Whos bookmaker opening quotes do you use ?

Hi Jack,

Any Bookmaker will do .

They all come from the same source.

But when I did use them I used Mark Read.

Hope thats of some help.

Now I just use the prices of any Daily Newspaper as they are early prices as they have to meet publishing deadlines.

Dont fall for the trap of buying whiz bang data bases or expensive Tipping Services.

Mind you I have no doubt that the sellers of these will dispute that on here .
They need not bother as I maintain my position.

Good luck with your endevours.

Cheers.

Hi Try Try again.

Apart from the exclusions I bet ALL races and all Field sizes.

For Quin, Trif , ist 4 only 10 + horses .( but rarely bet these)

Cheers.

What's a whiz bang data base Jack? I thought a database was full of historical information and that was it?

I agree and disagree with you Jack.

First with the disagreement. I think having a database (not tipping service) is worthwhile for most people if they understand how to do data analysis. They at least gain some insight into a few things which will help them form an overall idea of how to punt profitably. Tipping services may be useful for time poor people providing they find a reputable tipping service which may be very hard. Ethics is not a high point of the tipping industry but there are some good ones out there I am sure.

If a database had all the bookies opening quotes historically then you could quickly work out which ones work and which ones don't. Which odds ranges its best used for and which tracks does it perform best. Does it perform better on dry or wet tracks or at certain differences. Most opening prices are just a computerised number these days anyway.

But I agree with you that paying for a database and/or tipping service isn't required. I would also add that most of the databases out there have very similar information and provide little value add to what is available freely. Some do though with extra ratings and easier interfaces.

I don't think Jack has quite learnt how to use the quote feature as he was trying to quote darkydog2002. Jack merely says thanks at the end of the partial quote.
