hi all

hope you may have done some good with the ratings some good priced ones near the top end.

As i said previously these are raw ratings with no influence of any kind such as trackwork, tipsters or any other factor.

Sometimes the ratings are very close and there is only a whisker seperating them. I just just write them down as they come out.

However I know there is a vast amount of knowledge in this forum there may be some tried and true ways to make some distincions for adjustment.

I'll give you an example there maybe a situation where the top raters are three year olds against the older horses in say an open handicap history and fact tells us that at this time of the year just after the birthdays on august 1st for all horses three year olds do not perform very well because of maturity etc. until into the new year. Unless of course a horse is absolutely top class.

So with this as a measuring stick it stands to some logic that an adjustment can be made.

Another example is the toorak handicap only very few horses have won with a greater weight than 55.5 in this race again maybe an adjustment is possible if the top raters have above this weight.

If you have stats of this nature would be interesting to get them.

This is not to say that if top raters are in the above categories that they are totoally dismissed but they may be put back to say 3rd or 4th rater and the value ones that were 2nd 3rd or 4th raters bring them up.

Generally speaking though look for value in the ratings nearer the top.

As they say back the fav. youve got 30% chance of winning back the others and you have 70% chance.

As i said i make no adjustments at the moment

happy and great punting

regards ubetido

ps. if you would like a particular race rated that you may have an interest let me know. This may help you in your final decisions
