Mark, I read somewhere that the English market is very accurate. Every even-money horse has won one out of two races, all 2/1 horses have won one in three races, etc. I presume these prices would have to be the final prices because in the meantime there can be vast fluctuations.

If this is correct and the market is accurate, then I would have to agree with Crash. Of course one could probably beat it if one obtained a better price than the final one.

Perhaps Crash would like to qualify his statement. As far as I understand it, backing or laying, or indeed a combination of both, 95% of Betfair users, as in any gambling, are still losing.

There was one winner from yesterday's three selections paying $2.60.

To date there have been 26 selections for 5 winners paying $15.82.

Three selections today:
Casterton R5 no.5 - Emilie Of Astral ($3.50)
Rocky R1 no.2 - Cindy Kate ($3.00)
Rocky R8 no.1 - Light After Dark ($3.50)

Mark.
I don't see what your point has to do with my original statement: "Long term and overall [since betfair started in England], layers and backers are about even win/loss".

Mark: '95% of betfair users, as in any gambling, are still losing' . Ok, newsflash to all punters: '95% of punters lose!

The fact that 95% of all punters [inc. Betfair] are losing is neither here nor there to my original point. Which was: 50% of all Betfair winners or losers are layers and 50% of all Betfair winners or losers are bet takers.

If there was any innate advantage in laying only on Betfair, everyone taking the bets are mugs and everyone laying them [like Mark], are smart little cookies?

Can't help yourself can you?, have to have a dig at everyone.

I honestly didn't understand the point you were making, on face value it seemed to be an outlandish generalisation.

ps Even smart little cookies have a bit of luck sometimes. Casterton race 7 today, I'd made a small no risk book, but couldn't lay the top one. I was top odds of 180 at the death. The champ duly saluted. Another fantastic day.

I wasn't having a go at anyone Mark ... and by the way, your the one who seems to have trouble understanding posts [which left nobody else confused], yet you drop in to have a little brag about how clever a punter you are[?]

Give us a break !
