A New Idea

Recently i have been messing around with a set of simple calculations to determine the number of points in an NBA game. Sportstab always have a set amount points for you to choose to go over/under e.g 188.5. I get the average points per game for each team, then add this to their opponents average points per game. I get a figure like 196.5 - i then get the average of these two numbers, e.g. 187.2, and if this is OVER Sportstab's line then i bet on that. If it is under i leave it, because most games go over anyway. It works because Sportstab often have lines like 170.5, which is nearly a winning bet - and still at $1.85

tell me what you think

Simple yet interesting thoughts there chuck, have you got many results with that plan or is it an initial thought over the last cpl of days or weeks?
It'd be good if you ran the specs through recent and past results of nba.com and see how you fair

i've only done it for the last 3 days, had 6 bets and they have all won paying $1.85 each...i will check other results too

two bets today:
Chicago vs Utah OVER 182.5
Boston vs Detroit OVER 188.5

Thats the way I used to pick my over / unders. Then I started getting flogged by sportstab and have given up for a while. I found it worked better on the NBL than it did on the NBA.

I also use a similar guide in picking the "Total Goals Scored" in the soccer, (usually over 2.5 or under 2.5).
I add the total goals scored for and against both teams and then divide by the total number of games both teams had already played.

Also used the same logic for NFL games.

Mate if you use it as a guide and test it on all games you get some interesting results. A problem I found was that sports tab would not always offer the option on every game. So I just monitored it myself for a while, without placing any bets. When I thought I had it sorted, I used. It worked well for a while then, as I said earlier sportstab started flogging me. Maybe I started doing something wrong but I abandoned the process anyway.

Occassionally I still use it when the score line is very low or very high, and I think I can get away with it.

So long as it is not the only thing you consider before placing your bet. You also have to look at home and away, injured or rested players, heavy schedules etc.....

It is a tough bet though.

Good luck! :)

Well Boston and Detroit haved racked up 214 pts with a minute to go, but Chicago might just get me my first loss :-(
