They no longer are competitive in the new class and are penalised when they drop in class. How long do they langish in limbo until somebody realises that the horse is over-classed? At least in golf, if you have a blinder followed by your normal game, then your handicap starts going out again.

This was a problem when we had classes such as CL1, CL2 ... CL6 but the new rating classes are meant to stop this occurring. If a horse keeps running non places it will drop in its rating and therefore fall back to a competitive class for example RTG 80 vs RTG 86. |
