I don't get what you mean?
Maybe I should have elaborated but did not see a reason for it.
After all, the races are in time order and the animals are sorted according MY ranking. if I had allocated prices for them, then they would be in an ascending order.
Can't see any problem there?

Can you not see that occasionally your method throws out an Odds On Chance , and then in other cases it throws out 100 to 1 shots.
This sort of output is very similar to random numbers or the dartboard approach.
