The first horse into the 2021 Melbourne Cup will be decided on May 15th:

"The Andrew Ramsden Race Day is named after an important figure in Australian racing. Andrew Ramsden steered the VRC and, for a time, the industry through an era of change. He served the sport with both pride and distinction.

The feature Listed race The Andrew Ramsden is sure to be a thrilling contest. This staying test of 2800m is a ‘Golden Ticket' race, where the winner earns valuable ballot exemption for entry in the 2021 Lexus Melbourne Cup".
