Well I thought I might just put 2 bob into this thread as I'm enjoying everyones thoughts and willing to share some of mine.

We all view racing and systems different to one another and to keep an open mind is the key to say in touch with current trends. We all like to drink from the pools of money that the totes and bookmakers offer us everyday hence PRICE is important to all of us wheather it is on a longshot or a odds on favorite.
Systems can be developed for both situations and work quite profitably. Pending on the win strike rate, POT, losingruns, average dividend and most importantly the size of your bank.

I feel whichever way you go being short priced or long your system has to be backed up by a staking method, even money is just not acceptable (to me) and if your out to make money reseaching a staking method is just as important as the system itself.

After you create a system that you feel worthy, your about 1/2 way finished "to me anyway" the other half is testing staking methods ensuring you can withstand 3 fold the longestrun of outs, correct increases in wagers, long database tests 4 years+ and uniformity no bias or last minute personal judgements.

Thats my answer to puntz's original question
Quote "What does a punter idealy want a system to do"

To Stebbo (Chris)
Really instructional stuff you've posted , Thanks. MaxDD is something I have been aware of but not as clear in my head as you have explained it.
Regards
Rod
