Yes LG,
Largely because trainers scratch horses that can't handle Heavy (not all). But Dead or (Soft now) indicates track could have got worse or is getting better, so it could be all cut up, and trainers will give their horse a go to see if the horse can handle some give but not Heavy. All my research indicates Dead or Soft give the worst strike rate overall, long term when looking at systems and not individual horses.
