I"ve been dabbling in performance ratings for a few years - Scott style weight ratings and even speed ratings. I've had a bit of a spell from racing, but the Carnival has stirred my interest again.
Anyone else do their own performance and race ratings too? I'd be interested to talk you about your own methods and maybe we can share ideas, etc. gripweed@swirvemail.com and I have icq and ym contacts as well if you want to talk shop. |

hi brave chief
i do my own race ratings i am sure i do them alot different to the conventional ways. Whilst they are not perfect they produce results. However ideas are always good to toss around. To date i havent found anything that would better the results. That is to be more selective say when my ratings match another set of crtieria. A few years ago there was a mob called dial a winner and they gave out over the phone their top two. When these matched close to my top raters i would take them and leave the other races. I havent seen them around for a while so i just use my own without any other influence. Also of course time is a factor that one has to spend to came to conclusions. My simplistic view is that if the trainer runs the horse then its a chance and at the end of the day no one knows how the horse feels. regards ubetido |
