After several years of having a Punter's club with family and friends, generally Melbourne Quaddies, Trifectas or Allup Places, we are going to change our attack in 2010 and take our own Best Bets for the day. Any winnings will follow the "Bet Half, Bank Half" philosophy. Our weekly unit ($10) will be added to the "Bet Half" winnings and invested on the next Saturday's races. All winnings will be divided equally between our Punter's club members at years end.

Do we bet Win only or Eachway?

Win only will give a greater return, especially if we can have few good winning runs. If we don't have any significant winning runs then accumulating a "large" bank will be difficult.

Eachway betting will give us "a warm fuzzy feeling" with many Bank Half returns (unless we are way off the mark with our selections) and the bank will continue to grow.

The likelihood is we will probably do both (win and eachway) depending on our weekly selections.

These are "fun" bets with the aim of having a good sized kitty to split up for Christmas and do not affect my normal betting.
