How correct are the race times given out by
the race club on the day. When the track is rain affected betting turnover decreases, so is it in there interest to upgrade the track rating from slow to dead when possible.
Has any body got a good method of working out
the true track rating as the racing day unfolds.

You're kidding aren't you  You are drawing a very long bow by implying race clubs will give out false times to influence a track upgrade to improve betting turnover!

The official track condition can be verified (to some extent) by checking early race times against the class standard, providing the early pace is reasonable.
