Does anyone who how successful horses are when they have blinkers fitted for the first time?

For Perth no idea of statistics, but have noticed many an improved performance with the addition of blinkers first time around. Have also noticed a similar effect (not as often) when removed for first time.

I feel that the addition of blinkers is probably of significant assistance to around 2/10 horses. It probably is of more help to younger horses before they have developed any persistently bad traits rather than older, tried horses.
Something to watch for is horses having their first start in a race and wearing blinkers or horses that have performed badly at their first start or two then have blinkers added to their gear. |

A quick check of last 7 meetings at Belmont -17 starters (blinkers 1st time) for two winners & one 2nd. Similar stats to that suggested by Privateer. Interestingly, Lady Knockout who won the Belmont Guineas recently at cricket score odds, started without blinkers, after racing with them previously.

Two horses had blinkers fitted today at Cessnock. One ran 2nd in the 6th race paying $7.70 a place.
