Their Silver was in the Synchronised Diving and it was very controversial, because their last dive definitely shouldn't have scored enough to keep them above the Australian guys who finished with the bronze. What's worse is that they're actually coached by former Australian diver Steve Foley. TRAITOR!!!

Stephen Parry got the bronze behind Phelps in the 200 butterfly.

I expect the poms' medal tally to certainly increase once the Cycling and Athletics gets into full swing.

WOMENS 4X200 FREESTYLE RELAY FINAL (PRE HEATS prices)

AUSTRALIA $2.25
GREAT BRITAIN $3.35
USA $3.50
GERMANY $10.00
CHINA $18.00
SPAIN $23.00
FRANCE $35.00
ROMANIA $51.00
SWEDEN $61.00

Could be some value here with only the USA & CHINA with multiple starters in the previously completed 200M WOMENS FREESTYLE SEMI FINALS.

Could be a chance for the brits here, but Melanie Marshall will have to improve a LOT on her individual 200 performance. I think the U.S are probably over the odds again.

Australia's chances depend a lot on whether McKenzie can improve on her individual swim and whether the 200 butterfly takes too much out of Petria.

Well, I managed to get $3.75 and it WAS incredible value, but I would have much preferred an Australian Gold Medal though. Can't believe the poor tactical swim of Thorpe. He had 200m to make up just over a body length or so and he tried to do it all in the first 50. He went out so fast, he had nothing left for the final 50, otherwise I'm sure he would have finished over the top of Keller.

Just curious about how much you preferred Thorpe to have reached the wall first. So how much did you invest at the $3.75?
And just which swimming trials did you compete at again to have such in depth knowledge our Thorpedo lacks?

It wasn't a HUGE bet Mo. I had $20 on them, but I certainly wanted the Aussies to win. I simply backed the Americans because I thought it was just about a 50/50 race, so $3.75 was too good to pass up. $75 does ease the pain though.

I'm embarassed to say it, but believe it or not, I can't even swim!!! So, I guess that makes me just as bad as those people who've never ridden a horse in their life, but continually criticise the jockeys.

I'm simply going on past experience. I have watched Thorpe swim MANY times, and normally he would have just gradually eaten into the American's lead and conserved his energy to overtake him in the last 50 metres. I'm sure if he could have the race over, that's what he would do.
