Yeah, the Fighting Tigress received a rating of 120 putting her in the same class as the males, El Segundo, Takeover Target and Pompeii Ruler (all 120).

Fred Kersley dropped a bombshell yesterday when he revealed that Marasco was no certainty to run in the Cox Plate. Marasco could be switched to the Australian Mile Challenge.

The Challenge offers a $1 million bonus to the connections of the horse who can win the $1 million Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on November 10, $1 million Carlton Draught Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on November 24 and $700,000 Futurity Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield on March 1.

The 9 race card is a result of the last race being canned on Wednesday, due to 'dangerous conditions'.

Yes the small fields are a little concerning. There seems to be plenty of horses resuming from winter spells, yet the numbers are down??

I expect when we finally get back to ascot there will be some monster fields again and we will be complaining about how hard it is to find the winner!

There may also be another culprit; RBH. Perhaps the new handicapping policy has pushed a few more runners out to the provincials and country where they can compete against others with similar ratings??? rather than carry the minimum in town and give away sometimes 20 ratings points...

Thumbs up Scenic Blast

Great to see Jason Brown tasting success over east (Caulfield) today on the promising sandgroper Scenic Blast. That horse now set for the Caulfield Guineas.

And Scenic Blast owners Elio Galante and Bob Peters each managed a two state double - Elio Galante with Capuchin & Bob Peters with Special Reserve (both winners at Belmont)
