Thanks Joe,

That stated system seems to be on the nose.

For example when an exotic jackpots UNiTAB could in anticipation of a huge pool raise the rake - and nobody would be any the wiser.

Furthermore it could raise rakes on the Melbourne Cup pools and reel in extra millions from once a year punters.

Trying to get any rake information from their site is beyond my capabilities.

Just another case of the poor old punter running a bad last again.
I think they probably skim off a percentage that still makes the divvie reasonable and put the rest towards promos etc, a la the LOTTO boys.
Or more likely propping up their mistakes on the fixed odds markets perhaps.

There could also be something to the suggestion that they give bonuses to LARGE punters.

As i say, a million ways to get beat.
Voting with our feet may be the only option left.

Scandalous really.

Not condoning what the TAB's do or don't do, but in this day and age with the choices of where to bet, and the knowledge of how much of a ripoff they have been, (and still are !) anyone using the TAB's gets all they deserve. I agree with Joe, why people aren't voting with their feet is beyond me.

probably helps explain many of those magic $1.00 place divvies, how thats allowed is beyond me

be interesting to have a peak into the future say 5 years down the track & have a look at the punting landscape, hopefully be 1/2 dozen betting exchanges operating here & a <10% takeout by the tabs

but not likely, be too much of a 'fair go' for the average punter

I think it is the same mindset that sees many of us buy a can of soft drink for $2 at the corner store when they are selling a carton of the stuff up the road for $10.
I don't mind a Saturday at the PUBTAB myself, but the value as far as punting goes is pretty ordinary. Convenient more than anything I suppose.

Hmm, it wouldn't be long before you could install your own airconditioning and buy your own plasma t.v. with the money you save from the take on the booze and odds.

Not to mention the company, something that is missing if you sit at home (the missus doesn't really count)
