Default Unitab

Hi there, does anyone keep stats on Unitab, it seems to be mentioned on this forum pretty regularly.

I am interested in just how often the top 100 rater wins.

Thanks, Paul

Pauls123, Bhagwan posted that info a while ago, I didn't keep it but it was something like 30% S/R and about 14% LOT. At the time I thought it could be a basis to tweak it with some filters and always bet best tote/sp

Pauls123, I found those figures they are actuall from Wes. :

Of course I can provide some figures.

Here is 16 months worth of data :

Quote:
1) Total number 100 pointers

22811 rated at 100 by Unitab

Quote:
2) Total number winning 100 pointers

5306 came first (11706 ran a place being first second or third)

Quote:
3) Average SP all 100 pointers

The average starting price was $5.45
The median starting price was $4.20

Quote:
4) Average SP winning 100 pointers

The average starting price was $3.66
The median starting price was $3.00

Hope that helps you out.

For those interested 100 raters are 3 times more likely to win than a randomly selected horse but only add an extra 5% to the POT.

Good Luck.

Default Thanks Party

Thanks for that info Party, thats very interesting. According to that the top 100 rater gets up 23% of the time. 51% of the time it runs a place (1st/2nd/3rd).

The other part I find hard to comprehend is that if the average starting price was $5.45 and times that by 5306 = $28917. This is a pretty good profit on an outlay of $22811. ??, am I missing something here..!

The other thing which jumps into my mind is, how does the Unitab 100 rater compare to the NSWTAB DFS 100 rater,......any ideas. I'm currently jotting down stats from the DFS 100 rater, but will take ages to get a reliable %

Thanks again, Paul

Pauls123, I was a bit confused there but I think Wes means that the average SP of the WINNERS was $3.66 = $19,419.96 not so good!

But still, remember that this would include joint 100 pointers i.e. more than one in a race (I presume) also includes all types of races and Tracks. So I do believe that it can provide a basis to tweak it down to a profit. eg.
1. No bets worse than Dead
2 No bets on maidens, fillies.mares races, jumps, amateur, Ladies races etc
3 Raced within 21 days only
4 At least placed once at the distance
5 Delete if ridden by 3kg claimer
6 Delete if set to carry more OR less than 3.5kgs than set wieght last start, or if set to carry more than 60kg's (IGNORE ALL CLAIMS)

Thats just a start but I reckon allready you'd be getting down close to break even.

PS What would be interesting is the outcome of 100 pointers when Unitab, NSW TAB agree??

Partypooper is correct. The $5.45 is the average starting price but the winners prices are skewed to the favs which is much lower ($3.66).

Good Luck.
