Default RaceCensus & any other reccomendations?

Hi guys,

I know you are advertising RaceCensus and I have looked at the screen shots but what other databases have you guys used, using or had a crack at?

Also does anyone know if the TAB DFS is included in RaceCensus?

Any opinions from those who do use RaceCensus?

Does RaceCensus include 'most fancied' ?

Hi nikg,

I am the programmer of RaceCensus, so I cannot give other recommendations, but can assist with your questions.

The DFS is not included in the database as it is erased from their online website the same day.

RaceCensus does include the closing TAB price and closing price rank, so you can search by most fancied and give price parameters to those horses, there is also a "favourite premium" calculation which calculates the difference in price between the favourite and second favourite.

Sex is included in the database, and as far as I am aware it is the only database around that has sex as a filter.

You can filter by Colt / Filly / Horse (Entire) / Gelding / Mare / Rig (one jatz cracker)

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for your reply Chrome.

I have some more questions, as a serious buyer you would appreciate that I don't want to end up buying something that does not suit my needs.

Is the database local or remote? It looks like it's written in VB or something so I am assuming that it's a local copy that you access locally.

what range of filters does the database cover?

When you refer to most fancied are you referring to "most fancied" in tipsters columns, or most fancied as in "by price"?

Does the database include - pre-post favorite? this info usually comes from the paper but is also online at places like RacingandSports so I am guessing that it COULD be in your database also?

eg; can I do a search like this;

sex=F or M
No place in last 3 runs
is not a pre-post favorite
no dead tracks
female jockey's only or male jockey's only
range of weight - eg 55-57 or 55 only..
You get the idea..

Cheers,
Nick

Most fancied, refers to TAB price, tipsters poll is not included.

Prepost markets are also not included as there are quite a few prepost markets with diffreing favourites and prices which change.

You can do a search on all of your parameters except for male and female jockey, however you can filter by senior jockey or apprentice.

Hope this helps.

Exclamation

Thanks again for your time Chrome.

If you cant filter by sex of Jockey...can you dump into excel and then auto filter the sex of the jockey? does the database have the sex of the jockey in it?

If it has their name I could auto filter out anything with Ms in the front of it??

Cool

HI Chrome, I've never heard the term Rig before in horse racing, can you explain why they would only bother removing one and not both? sounds like their trying to have a bit each way :-)

It's actually a botched Gelding job sometimes attributed to one teste not descending properly and being left behind. It descends later and the horse is a Rig.
