What's happened to disillusion you Baco? I remember a few months ago you clued me in on Neurals and seemed cheerily involved with the rest of us in the battle with the bookies. Hell, I'm almost tempted to venture down off the mountain here to the lowlands you inhabit to give you a good stern talking to.
I know I have a session about once a week when I hit a losing streak and say "Stuff this, it's not worth the aggravation". and it's made that much worse by the thought that all the time and effort I've put into it would be wasted. Still the law of averages comes back into my favour later and once again I love the punt. That's one bad thing about the punt, however good you are there will always be rough spots and if (like me) you take these things to heart, depression, or at least wondering if it's all worth it, is just a few bad photo finishes away. Take a step back mate, have a break and ask yourself if you can still enjoy the punt, maybe with less commitment. It can be fun, maybe if you don't take it too seriously. KV |

yeh i rocked up on to this forum and found the HOLY GRAIL and I am on the beach in the the Bahamas and now I'm going backwards because it's only a dailup connection and everytime I try to place a bet the sand clogs up the keyboard and I keep thinking that everything came too easy and life should not be easy so I'm here wondering whether I should take the good advice and just shoot myself or find a rabied dog to bite me or just read what I want to read and take the rest with a dose of salts. Nice to see everyone waxing lyrical for a change. Hey Party that Casino trick with the last $1 happened to me in Melb. once, last $1 into a $1 machine in that pokie place in lygon st. Carlton, Melb. and won $500 [pounds would have been nice]. To top it off had a great day at the races next day. Luck is a conundrum, but it's certainly not dished out equally.
The trick with coping with the ups and downs of racing for this writer anyway, is to step back from it now and then and do something else. Returning refreshed gives a new perspective and energy. Rest is just as important in punting as it is in any other sport or pursuit, otherwise we crash and burn. |

Yep I'll agree with that 100% Crash..and exercise doesnt go astray either..even a walk each day can do wonders to help sharpen us up..Ive made a couple of mistakes in past couple of days, and drawn the conclusion that it's lack of rest and exercise.. Time to take it easy, walk and take some brain food like Ginko Biloba..There is alaos a strong case for only betting Saturdays..with races every day now..the carsh and burn factor is probably more prevalent than ever before.. Btw I have really enjoyed reading these last few posts on this thread...great to see some humour ... thanks Beton, Davez, PP , KV and co .. |

Thanks
Hi all,
Thank you all for your participation in my post, which I admit, was bit harsh, but for the reason. My aim was to see what kind of respond I would get from members in the forum, if I write something like that! By your reaction I have found that there are number of people in this forum that are genuine, considered and passionate about punting. If I offended you I profoundly apologise, and I appreciate your kind words of advice and honest opinion. Your comments are of value to me, and make me releases how far I am behind you, in accepting the facts of this racing industry as it is. Kind regards. Baco60 |

Glad to see you bolt upright chest out and shoulders back and taking it like a man. Yell at the missus kick the dog and chase the kids around the paddock. Alls well so long as you don't catch the kids before you calm down.
