Also take into consideration there is only about 1/10th the racing in the UK when compared to AUS though. AUS would do the same annual figures but it is more spread over a lot more races.

Agree with US racing. As soon as you put meaningful amounts on it you swing the prices to a disadvantage.

LG, I find my day is being turned upside down. I'm punting from midnight to 0700 on UK races based on prices (and a bit o' form) alone. Then bed 'til 1200 and run the algo until 1700 on the Wagman Turf Club with +/-$100k pool.

UK races have pools (generally) in excess of $800k, just like Oz I dump crap Maiden, National Hunt , races etc.
Pottering along nicely. :-)

Yes, kiwi American professionals are all about speed ratings because their races are run mainly on dirt tracks and the pace is quite different, they don't begin, settle and sprint home like they do here, they go hell for leather usually. An American came over here and tried his methods which failed miserably because he failed to recognise the way our jockeys rate races.
In the UK they do look at speed ratings, but they are mostly into breeding and trainers and jockeys.
The most similar to US racing speeds is probably Hong Kong in my opinion.

That's not to say speed figures are useless in Australia, it's the figures you record and how you use them.

Been down that road, mate you'll burn yourself out, and the birds starting to chirp will take it's toll. Isn't there any way you can automate your strategy?

And you'll go nuts with the small pools and very erratic start times!
They seem to start their races when they are good and ready, race start times are a farce.

CP,

In regard to the US erratic start times. Its absolutely nuts. Why do they even bother putting a start time Still there is money to be made.

Ahhh, CP, I'm an old fart. My mind died with Win7Pro and the dog is 16 so "dark and light" makes little difference.
March Results might demonstrate what I mean .... and explain why the USA is off my calendar.

USA 85 bets loss $13430
IRE 17 loss $ 1101
AUS 179 win $11288
GB 72 win $ 9562

I don't care about the erratic USA start times, what I DO object to (now it's dawned on me) is the market manipulation thanks to small pools. NO more.

Very nice results. Drop out the USA and its a really good month.

I see IRE as a losing place as well generally. I can't run most of my systems there as they lose there for some reason but work everywhere else.
