The best I can do is go back to the 70s and Mercia Bale who was the dam of Winifred Emiline and Billy Bale I think that was the beginning of the LIne (I could be wrong however)Just as an aside The two Sires who dominated at the time were Temlee (vic) and Waverly Supreme .And it wasnt unusual to look at the results on sunday morning and see 8/10 races going to their progeny.
have a look at this page

Hope that helps

I think the 'Bale' name was started by the Wheeler (breeder) and G. Bate (trainer) combination going back a while. Then everyone started calling their dogs something Bale.

The bale name is registered to paul wheeler and cannot be used by anybody else. The original bale dog was named after either his grandmother or great grandmother using her maiden name

By the way I'm about 95% sure that the first dog was emiline bale I know that mercia bale was a younger half sister to the above. If you wish to know more I can give you a web site where you can look up all the data you want Billy and Winifred were offspring of emiline bale. Mercia and emiline were both out of Dynabolt one by The Smoother the other by Benjamin John.
Hope that helps
